OMGHi2U SMC failsafe....anyone use one or are you using the "spray N' pray" method?

I've had my smc kit since june of 06 and it has always bugged me that it hasn't had a failsafe to cut to wastegate boost.

Does anyone use one....something besides integrating the DDS3? You would think we could use the pressure switch that's integrated in the kit, and maybe a boost pressure switch, a relay or 2, and wire this thing in to cut to wastegate boost upon a failure of no pump output pressure.

seems somewhat simple. Anyone?

I've been drawing some stuff up on paper....I'd like to see how you do it.

I believe SMC has their pressure switch OPEN upon pressure....not really normal, but whatever. And I assume it's a duty cycled pump controlled via the ground.

Any brainstorming would be great.

Ryan

i've been spraying since february and still enjoying my "spray and pray" method

but wouldnt mind failsafe system that utilizes a wastegate cutoff.

yeah, I think most people are doing the "spray N' pray" method with teh SMC kit.

I am starting the spray at 11psi and the wastegate should be 9psi.

I don't mind buying the relays/pressure switches/whatever it takes, as it should be a simple electrical problem to take power/ground away from the boost solenoid.

thinking of incorporating a switch like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Water...QQcmdZViewItem

Not sure if this is correct or not...but if you break the circuit for the boost solenoid will that throw a code.

Is there anything like a valve you can get the would actuate and basically disconnect the vacuum line from the turbo. Wouldn't that then limit you to wastegate boost. This might be too much money but it is a thought.

Well looks like this labonte motorsports has exactly what I described. Just a gm 3 port solenoid, and all you need is something to trigger when you meth goes off.

probably will throw a code assuming you're not running an aftermarket boost controller.....
