Default 96 Legacy L Automatic Final Drive for rear diff

Does anyone know what the final drive is for a 1996 legacy L automatic? I want to know because I am trying to find another automatic and I need to know what the final drive is.

Thanks.

Is there any manual transmission I can put in that would not require a rear differential swap? I know for the majority of the auto to manaul swaps you are required to change the transmission, and the rear differential.. but I am trying to avoid buying a rear diff.

Thanks guys, Brandon.

There is a 4.11 manual tranny, i believe out of an outback. I'd have to check on it though.

Upon further research, you can just grab a manual out of a legacy between 91-99, and you should be good to go with no rear diff swap. Remember other key important things, though. You're going to need pedal box, clutch, and to be able to figure out the wiring. Important is the neutral switch, you're going to have to wire in brake and reverse lights, etc. Also I believe you'll need the cross member off the manual legacy, but i'm not positive on that one.

IIRC the legacy manuals all have 4.11 gears. i think the imprezas have 3.90, and 4.11 mixed in here and there. and the 2wd manuals have 3.70 or something like that. dont get the rear diff from an auto legacy outback, its 4.44, from what ive read.

Only some impreza wagons are 3.90, most are 4.11 (MT) and 4.44 (AT). Forester and outback are usually 4.44 as are BE/BH AT legacies. The specs can be found in the transmission tech documents if you can get your hands on them
