This is definitely something I've never consciously thought about, but I only use the left shift key as well. I read the thread quickly and thought you never learned to shift a car with your right hand.

I only use my left pinky to use the shift key...but thats just me...I also tend to use my right thumb for the space bar but not my left....I too am a freak.

That's another good point. I only use my right thumb to space as well.

I just realized I can use both. However it is most likely to be used with my right hand. Weird, I have been typing whole sentence and realized that I mostly use my right.

I use both, but I usually only press the space bar with my left hand. The problem is my MBP's keyboard is wank and the spacebar doesn't work well unless you hit it exactly in the center, which doesn't work too well when you press it with the right thumb, so half the time I have to redo my typing because the spacebar didn't activate.

I'm a straight up hunt-and-pecker. I can't type properly for the life of me.

I blame the fact that my typing instructor in HS was narcoleptic and we, as a class, took full advantage of thay by screwing around for the entire semester. I'll bet that whole class suffers from my same affliction.

The problem is my MBP's keyboard is wank and the spacebar doesn't work well unless you hit it exactly in the center, which doesn't work too well when you press it with the right thumb, so half the time I have to redo my typing because the spacebar didn't activate.
