Default Snow/Ice Tire Question

Hello all,

I live in Anchorage, Alaska. I bought my WRX wagon as a winter-only car. As soon as the road is dry, it will put away for the summer. We have ice, snow and everything in between for months on end.

What I can I buy for tires to give me the ultimate snow/ice traction? How can I get the traction the WRC drivers have? I have driven other cars with several studded and studless snow tires before and I have been disappointed so far.

Blizzak WS60 is the best option and when tested head to head against studded tires on an ice skating rink they won !!!

I think some Hakka 4/5 in studded configuration would be really good in both snow and ice.

My vote would be for Hakka 5's in a studded tire, and the Toyo GO-2 for studless.

If a lot of your driving is on plowed paved roads, then a studless tires in a 205 width would be my recommendation. If you do a lot of driving on unplowed roads a studded 195 or even 185 would be the tire of choice.

I disagree with Luke.
go with any studded Nokian tire or studdless Nokian RSi.
You won't find better tire for winter.

Thanks everyone for the input. I am going to be doing some homework on the Nokians.
