Default first CEL...greaaaaaat...

after 17000 miles of hard (yet exhilarating) driving, i get my first CEL. jussssst great i say to myself. i dropped the car off this morning at the dealership and those wankers told me they'll get on it whenever they find time?? now i remember why i hate dealerships so much...not just SOA dealerships, but any dealership in general...i asked the service guy, "if my car requires more than one day for service, will i be able to get a loaner car?" sorry mr. so and so...we do not offer that service.

i can't believe this *****! THIS is the most bogus statement i've ever heard. has anyone experienced this predicament???

Hey, as far as I know...Subaru does not offer loaners for warranty work. Only upper scale manufacturers give out loaners when the car gets serviced.

I don't know what's so bogus about what he said...if you mean the statement about how they'll get on it when they have time...yes, that's ridiculous. But the service guy telling you he can't give you a loaner, it's just part of the policy. Remember, Subaru isn't exactly Acura (they give loaners for any of their cars, even the Integra!). But Honda won't give me a loaner if I took my S2K in for service...heh.

I get a loaner from my dealership so long as I let them know ahead of time that I'll need one. I've had a loaner twice. One 99' Legacy GT, and one 01' Forester S. Nice cars but no WRX.

I got my second CEL (at 31,000km) ever this morning. I'm not bringing it in, I'm clearing the code. If its important it will come back. I suspect is a misfire due to bad gas cuz I filled up at some hick station yesterday (only put $5 in... it looked suspicious), they only had regular and "special", when I asked what the octane was on the special he said "thats good stuff there". It smelled like 91 so I tossed it in. Had no choice, only station for miles.

Just pull in and ask them to scan the code. Takes two minutes, they shouldn't have a problem since there's always a couple fat-ass service managers sitting around.

But I wouldn't just clear a code without finding out what it is.

THAT'S BOGUS! i'm already paying 26K for the d*mn thing...at least they can do is provide me with transportation...BESIDES, i have a date tomorrow! what am i gonna do...uhhh, honey i'll pick you up in the shuttle bus...however, we gotta go out between the hours of 9 and 6pm...

I agree. BTW: everyone who has posted on the thread about CEL problems has gotten a loaner no questions asked when their WRX was out of commission for a couple days to have the ECU reprogrammed.

Sounds to me like your dealer is jerking you around. If your WRX seems to be running OK I would keep it until you can get everything worked out with your dealer.
