Default Brush Guard, skid plates, fender liners, and front end aero.

I've got a Legacy GT Wagon, and while I like keeping it clean appearance wise, I do venture out in the backroads on occasion. My BE got torn to shreds, and I don't want the BK to get damaged. I originally bought a 1985 GL as a backroads fun car, but I'm trading it for some other parts for the BK.

So, if I went to a local shop and got a custom brush guard made for the front bumper, is it going to mess up the front end aerodynamics? Also, how much would it hurt or help having a skid plate as a part of the brush guard?

And last, how much does adding/removing fender liners change the aerodynamics of a car? By BE went through the last 2 months of it's life with me without either liner, both SHATTERED (as well as a large piece of the front bumper) because I didn't slow down in time on a logging road. Catching air in a Legacy is fun, but not when you leave parts of your front end everywhere.
