Unhappy WRX Upholstery Wearing Out?

I had my OBS for 3 years and 45,000 miles and the seats looked brand new to the day I sold it.

BUT, the seats on my WRX are already looking worn, especially the left bolster on the driver's seat. The fabric is getting all funky and the seams are starting to look white from the "fuzz" wearing off.

Anyone else have this issue and if so have you approached your dealer about it?

Just Curious.

I noticed several snags and be damn careful with vacums, they will leave marks in the black portions of the seat. I don't feel it's too bad, yet

They did?

I have a few questions:

1. How worn out was your seat?
2. Which dealer?
3. Did they do a good job?
4. How long have you had your car?
5. is the new seat cover wearing out yet?

Thanks

I have 7000km on my '02 WRX and people are commenting that the seatback is severely ragged on the driver's seat. There was no wear at all on the 5 year old Honda that I traded in. Maybe it's due to the increased acceleration g-force? Just kidding...but I'm disappointed to say the least. Imagine what this will look like at 70,000 km. I'll see what the dealer says at the next oil-change. Anybody know if warranty is covering this?

Unhappy left bolster is wearing out too

I have had this addressed at my local subaru dealer and they said they want to see it get progressively worse because they claim Subaru is really stingent on replacing seat covers. My guess is there just trying to not deal with the issue. I at least had it documented. Basically the sueded material on the seat is prone to do this. It's the compromise for having great, well bolstered seats with a attractive fabric. The left bolster wears out on a lot of cars with performance seats. My dads 97 Vette was wearing badly on the left bolster and it was such a problem it was recalled I believe and in 98 they made the bolster vinyl on the leather seats.

The bottom surface of both my driver's and passenger's side seats are fuzzing up pretty bad. Side bolsters look ok so far.

I'm not suggesting the quality of the fabric isn't to blame, but remember the bolsters on these seats are pretty big. As a result, they're going to get alot more wear as you get in and out of the car. Many of the older cars I've owned with big bolster have looked bad (944, 16v GTI's, 20v Audi...). I learned how to get in and out without dragging myself across the bolster.

Or, just install leather like I did and not worry about it.
