Default Amp turns on but sub doesnt work!! help plz

So I hooked everything up turned the subwoofer ON with the head unit and I got nothing....I checked all the wiring and everything is where it should be. the rcas, remote, power, ground, and speaker wire. The light on the amp turns on but the sub doesnt move. Iam pretty sure I wired the sub correctly its a DVC 4ohm and iam using a mono amp at 400rms at 2ohm...Is there something I missed?

If you don't have something truly helpful to post, then just don't.

Where did you buy the amp, and do you know if it works at all? When you hooked everything up (including speaker wire, ground wire, RCAs, power, and remote turn on) was the battery disconnected from the car? How far from the amp is the ground wire grounded? Did you make sure to file some of the paint away from where you grounded the amp? These are just starting suggestions, but I'd make sure you bought the amp new and from a reliable source as well as doing some basic troubleshooting.

Thanks for being a great help jackachy!

Make sure the gain is not turned all the way down on the amp.

The ground is a little over 12" and I did scrape the paint. The battery was connected when I hooked the wires up but I didnt have the power wire connected or the fuse to the battery.

try to pop the sub with a 9volt battery see if it moves, also make sure your getting full 12volts to the amp(14volts if the car is running)

make sure your fuse near the battery is good. i have seen this more than a few times. the fuse will look fine, but when replaced witha different fuse, everything works fine. OR your best bet is to take the amp to a stereo shop, or CC or BB and see if they will bench test it for you. hopefully they wont charge you

I have to agree. You don't ever post anything of value in any threads. People who don't know the difference between your and you're is frustrating, but you've managed to irritate people even before you starting correcting others. Very impressive!

You might call up their customer service and see what their thoughts are. If they don't want to help you then your options would be to find a local repair shop that can bench test the amp for you to make sure that it's working. If they report that it's not find out if onlinecarstereo.com will replace your unit.

Your first line of defense should be the vendor, but if they're uncooperative then you know what to do.

darkspyderxx's suggestion is the easiest, and where I would start. What kind of amp is it? I ask because while the light may be on, it may be a different color, or a different light, which is telling us something. Try the 9-volt as mentioned, and we'll go from there. I'm assuming you don't have a test-tone generator, correct?

I would wait to call them until you do at least the most basic troubleshooting, unless you don't have the means to do so. I have a feeling they won't be able to help you over the phone, because if they know what they're doing, they will start with the same suggestions already mentioned. But if you don't have a 9-volt, or a tone generator, or a test-light, call them before you spend $ at a shop to have it tested. They might be of more assistance than I think (some people still do care )

If you read the thread from top to bottom we actually suggested the basic troubleshooting first (checking connections, 9-volt test, etc.), and then if he can't get it to work after all of those things are exhausted the suggestion was made to contact the customer service department. I figured this was explanatory due to the chronological order of this thread. Even basic concepts aren't grasped by you

I read it from top to bottom, twice now, and the OP didn't say he tried those things yet. I'm suggesting that he do that BEFORE he calls and gets the same answers he's getting here.

Do you have something against me for some reason, or do you treat everyone like this? Everything I've seen where you've replied to one of my posts, you have this attitude. Like mom always said, if you don't have something nice to say, keep your mouth shut. I think it went something like that.

I would love to try some of the suggestions right away but unfortunatly after I failed at installing I had to go to work. And here I am hating life till 10 tonight. Thanks for the input and audiosavvy thank you for helping again as you have in all my recent threads these past few weeks lol. I'll post again when I try some things out and get things working hopefully.

I didn't have anything against you or an attitude until you insulted me personally. Until you give me some reason not to feel this way, then I really have no reason to act differently towards you. I think you said something rude. Oh yeah, I remember what it was! You said "YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT."

I understand he hasn't tried anything yet, but my suggestions were made in the order I thought he should try them in. If it's not common sense to try basic troubleshooting before calling customer service he'd likely find that out anyway when he called them.

If the FAQs and search functions didn't exist, then I would have posted countless threads. Just because some people don't think first to look there doesn't mean everyone does the same things as the OP. He could have read the amp's owner's manual first, but we're a community here to help other people. If you don't want to be here to help others (and posting "search, FAQ" doesn't really help because those are basic rules the mods are supposed to enforce) then why do you post at all?

I will only help people that help themselves. if this kid doesnt do anything but post 25 threads about stuff equal to tying his shoes like he has, i wont help. i tried to steer him into a independent direction.

Yep, I said that, because you suggested replacing all the wiring to run 15-20 watts, and I think that's outrageous. And I didn't just pull it out of my rear, it's from every-day experience dealing with mid to high-end systems, and the 50ish years of experience that the two other guys here have (at my shop). I'm truly sorry if I did offend you, I'm not here to make enemies (quite the contrary), but I meant what I said in that thread. How bout you come to Bakersfield, we'll drink a beer, and be good friends
