Default Good Shop in Phx to work on my STI

My 04' STI is at the dealer right now for what I am pretty sure is spun bearings, meaning new short block. Fun Fun.
If they don't cover it under warranty(god I hope they do, car has not been tracked or anything real hard) I would rather have a local reputable shop do the work then the dealer who is going to rape me out the ass for work. It is at Steven Jory right now.

Any good ones around?

Well I already told them to tear it down to find out what the problem is, since they should still cover it under warranty, they did the last oil change and they now find it is 3.5qts low on oil, so they either didn't put enough in, or something is wrong and it is burning WAY WAY to fast. if not its button up time and trailer to FAT.

That is why im thinking, normally it is only like 1qt, maybe they messed something up last oil change, either didn't put enough in or something caused it to burn up. Cuz I think it killed the turbo at the same time as well.

The oil consumption issue common on these engines, especially the 04s, not normal but common.

I know but 3.5qts?? I checked it 2 weeks before(car went on Tuesday) and it was still within a reasonable level.

I have seen some 04s burn all the oil in the engine between oil changes. Like I say, it's common but not normal. I tell everyone to check the oil every other fill up.

I have replaces 04 engines 5 to 1 over the 05s and up. Subaru made a production change late in 04 to improve the reliability of the powerplant.

Hmm that makes sense. And sounds like a warrenty issue they should cover, no mods on car thus far.

No Mods? I don't know how many miles you have or when the car was bought new but it should be.

Subaru is aware of the issue.
