Default AEM wideband reading lean???

Hey there, I bought a wagon with a decent build. It was tuned on an open ecu, and I'm a bit concerned. It has an aem wide band and gauge mounted right on the steering column. I watch it probably too much. Full boost 19psi it's target ratio is 11.4:1 and it hits it (though I swear I'm hearing a bit of det when it hits full boost, then it goes away, but I can't tell if its det or wastegate flutter), little to no load cruising it's jumping around from 15.0-15.3:1. Being concerned I pulled a plug, and sure enough, it is very white/gray. I have an appointment at Topspeed on the 5th to get the car tuned. but I am concerned that I am doing damage to the car, and I really like the car and want to take care of it. The bottom end is a fresh sti bottom end with less than 3k miles, so I'm hoping that it hasn't been damaged. So will cruising two hours to atlanta at 15.3:1 going to hurt it or am I ok?

Well i would recommend having someone take a look at your map and some logs, odds are your maf scaling or something is off thats leading to this problem at cruise/idle, thats causing that. I personally wouldnt like to see that on my WB. Its close enough to 14.7 that it shouldnt do any damage (this is my opinion you can make your own judgements), especially at cruise, my only concern would be that if it is too lean anywhere else in the map that could lead to major damage.

Like 555 said, if you've got a screwy MAF table, your trims could be very off, causing the car to run lean in open loop (WOT etc) as well. This corroborates your lean cruise conditions.

Try logging the car and see what your ST/LT trims are.

15:1 wont be a problem at all on cruise or closed loop. Some great tuners target leaner than that (step forward Ken)

Again 11.4:1 shouldnt be an issue but the det could be - get it checked out or make some det cans to check whether it actually is det.
