Default How do you remove the knobs on the HVAC?

Alright ya'll, I want to take the HVAC completely apart so that I can install stage lighting gels on the inside of the HVAC cover.

I've tried bulb covers to get the color I want, but they fell off.
I've tried painting the bulbs with model paint, but it was uneven.
I've tried white and blue LED bulbs from superbrightleds.com, but they blew fuses after I installed them.

So, I'm back to step 1 with the stock bulbs, and my last effort is to install stage gels strips on the back of the HVAC face/cover.

How do you get the three knobs off, the one for the temperature, the fan, and the vents? Please refer to photo below:

Turn them so they are pointed straight up and just pull them off towards you, they come right off.
