Question Replacing Burnt Out Headlight & Fog Light

I just noticed that I have one low beam headlight out, and one fog light out.

How much should these cost?

How hard is the install?

Thanks!

well you have to buy the bulbs in pairs normally... so each pair will most likely cost you about 20 bucks each. i get the super white xenon bulbs off of ebay. the fog lights are H3 and i think the headlights are H4. The install is cake.

you don't have to buy the foglight bulbs in pairs, at an auto parts store or the dealer. the dealer will whack you $24 (!!!) for the OEM H3 bulb, whereas you can get a hella replacement at advance auto for $4.

i've been having a problem with my fogs, i bought my '01 RS about a month ago and i've gone through 3 fog light bulbs already - ***? 2 in the passenger side and one in the driver's side. the lenses aren't cracked, either....

I hear you there. I went to Pep Boys this past weekend and bought all four OEM for a total of $32. The install was a breeze.

Thanks for everyone's help!

Be careful when replacing those bulbs!!! Wear some latex or nitrile gloves, and do not touch the bulb glass with your hands...the oil on them will create hot spots when your lights are on, and they'll pop!!

Talking Reason for replacing headlights in pairs

There is a method to the madness of replacing headlights in pairs. It seems as if when one goes, the other isn't far behind. I have had this happen twice. Also it is easier to put 2 new bulbs in while you have your tools out and the hood up!!!
