You need the headlights, bumper, bumper beam, grille fenders, hood, and the front radiator support/headlight surround bar. The only thing that is at all tricky is the bar in the front, that needs to be salvaged from the year that you want to do the conversion. It needs to be welded to the rest of the frame. Everything is bolt on from there except the wiring for the headlights and maybe fog lights.

I did an 04/05 conversion and fully custom fabricated the front bar and I will never do it again. It was such a bitch.

Yes, that it the way it was designed initially. I have an 04 and I am considering going bugeye. The radiator support is really a flimsy piece of sheet metal which is tack welded to the front end. The piece that needs to be changed for year to year headlight differences is not even a complete radiator support from what I see. What I mean is that the lower supporting part that holds the radiator up remains the same.

I have not really reached a conclusion as to whether the tack welding is really necessary versus another type of attachment. I can do either.

Welding in some cases is superior for structural integrity and ultimate strength. For manufacturers it is sometimes an effective cost cutting measure.

It costs alot less to tack weld this part on then to make reinforcement taps and attachment bosses and then hardware to be able to unbolt this part to change from year to year. They do not look at it like that.

Good luck with your project!
