Hey all. I read through Armin's FAQ and got some good information. Thanks! I've been playing around with a photography hobby since I got my Nikon while I was in Japan.. Anyway, would really appreciate you guys' feedback on my photos... I know I have a lot of room for improvement so anything you think of... please!
Thanks in advance! Tonight's photos were all taken at the top of the parking garage attached to the Oklahoma Memorial Stadium at the University of Oklahoma. I had just washed and polished my car but after editing I think I'm seeing smudge spots... ![]() Some of them have had a little HDR post-processing.. Your comments on my HDR technique also welcomed!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() edit: woops, hopefully they work now...

Thanks for the compliments... Any constructive criticism for my technique?
Yeah the back doesn't look that great to me.. I'm thinking to paint that center chrome trim piece (kinda like the STi) and perhaps a red tail light mod.. btw what's the website where I can look at that? |

My red film should be here any day. You just need to call Rock blocker. 425.221.5352 When I get mine Installed I will post up pics for you too see how it looks. I like the chrome strip in back, it might look even better with the red tails. |

good pics. i'm trying to get into photography, too. the first thing that stands out is the reflections on the car. i think those can be cut down with a polarizer filter. i'm sure the more experienced photogs will chime in.

not bad! pay more attention to lines in the background and how they lead to and from the car and picture frame.
and try not to cut off the car in the frame unless you're drawing attention to very very specific lines. you're showing a lot of potential! cool car! keep it up! |

Some composition tips:
Centering the car here between the two pillars would make for a much better composition. It would help the overall balance greatly. You could crop this one down to eliminate the stuff on the left-hand side, but the car would not be as well centered. This is a good spot for taking car pics though. ![]() This picture needs some fill light- the top half of the car is lost. You can also see your reflection in the bumper. ![]() This is a very cool shot, but would be even better if you could compose it to eliminate the stadium lights in the background. The overall lighting is great, as is the moon in the picture. The reason this shot works so well is that it adheres to the "rule of thirds". ![]() Same comment as the first picture- this one would be much much better if you were to pull the car forward about 3-4 feet so that it was better centered relative to the background. The high angle works well here. ![]() This one suffers from the "post sprouting out of the top of the car" syndrome. Also needs a little fill light on the car, due to the back lighting. ![]() These are a great start, and with a few small tweaks you can have some really solid photos. I would definitely recommend getting an external flash for your camera if you don't have one already, and start experimenting with that. Also, in situations like this where you are using a lot of ambient light to do your shots, look into using the custom white balance functionality of your camera. It looks good overall here, but it can make the colors look a bit better if you do that. |
