Default San Diego Trip

I'm popping to San Diego to have lunch with my twin brother who's in town some time soon. How long a drive is this - I heard the I8 is a nice road... Anyone have a Valentine V1 that needs testing?

Here is the secret!! Shaves 45 min off your drive time, I know because I drive out to SD every other weekend to see my g/f! Take i-10 towards Tucson, get off at Maricopa Rd Exit, take Maricopa RD for 20 some miles, once in town make a right at 238 and take that into Gila Bend and Catch the 8 there! The 238 is a fun road to drive b/c no one really drives that road, its twisty turny and you can reach top speed on that road!!!!! After El Centro you will run into Border Patrol, so make sure you're not ridding dirty brotha. They usually have a dog present smelling rides. I got pulled over there and talked my way out of it, thank god..Drive safe

Yea its a good 4-5 hours depend on your driving just watch for popo's near yuma and el centro.... only time i have seen them. yea the border patrol check points on the way there in the mountains and back outside of yuma. Also did it with my Beltronic's detector

I've been thinking of going that way to my parents (Oracle Junction) b/c of the decent twisty turny factor, good to know it's as good as it looks on a map.

I'll ignore the "top speed" comment though

oceanside (40mins north of SD) to phoenix 4hrs 15mins.
my ex wife was being induced and i didnt want to miss the birth of my son.
done in a 97 VW jetta GL.
coppers are cool untill about 15 mins on either side of yuma but more so on the cali side.
all of my speeding tickets were on the cali side.

I'll check ou tthis back route - I'm in norf phoenix though so it seems a little out of the way... I'll be on the road at 4.30am so traffic on the 10 shouldn't be too heavy...

Drive went well - 4hrs 45mins but saw hail, rain and snow! Got about 21mpg compared to 18.9 around town - also got a lot of compliments at the 4 gas stations we filled up at...

I want to live in Del Mar

We left at 4.30 so it was dark until Yuma and raining/snowing after that... sorry - didn't see a single cop anywhere except the border patrol guys...
