Default Looks like I am getting a buy one get one free deal.

My wife is pregnant with our second child and she went in for the first ultra sound yesterday. Well the ultra sound showed that we will be having not just a second child but a third one as well.

We always have joked about having twins since I have them on my side of the family but I am not sure if we are ready for this to be a reality. Part of me is excited to be having twins but the other part is terrified. I think I am more terrified about this pregnancy then our first one.

All your expenses go up by double/triple as well too!

Congrats though! Twins can be fun, although I'm sure it's hell too.

I figured this is going to be hell. My first child will be 20 months when we have the twins so it looks like we will be changing a lot of diapers now.

Once a month its blue.

Default

This happened to my sister. Now they have 3 kids, all under 3 years old (the twins are 18 months now), no money, no free time, the whole family is sick all the time from stress, "daycare disease", etc, their house got immediately too small, and my sis and her husband have zero personal lives.

They love every one of the 3 little monsters.

Good luck.

And congrats!

My kid was about 20 mos. when we had our second. I cannot (or will not) imagine twins. You'll be immediately outnumbered. There are times when all require attention at the same time, you end up choosing the one most likely to die to help out.

I have two friends that have twins. Both of them say they're way more than 2x the work of a single.

Your reality was my fear when we went in for the first ultrasound. Luckily there's only one in there. And our daughter will be 3 when her sister pops out, so she can do a lot of stuff on her own.

That said, since you already have one, you already have a bunch of the crap you'll need. Hopefully you live close to family who can help out, too. And if you don't have a BJ's/Costco/etc membership already, you probably should get one.

Some places also have "twin clubs" where you can get together with other people who have twins and swap gear for cheap.

And enjoy driving that minivan ....

UPDATE: My wife went in for a check up a couple of weeks ago and they found out that one of the babies didn't make it. Good news is the other one is fine and doing well.

This was acutally a bit of relief in a sad way for both of us. We have been really freaking out on how we would handle our 14 month old kid and twins at the same time.

You'll be fine! It'll be total chaos - but you'll get through.

Start shopping for that Honda Odyssey.
