only difference is a ported wastegate and housing that doesn't crack

in other words, the vf43 is the vf39 but built better

i think the 43 is basically a 39 just newer and a little better/stronger. Peoples feel free to correct me if im wrong but i think it uses a lot of the same parts from the 39 just beefed up and a little newer...

Something about the exhaust housing shape is different IIRC.

Since I've heard conflicting information, let me get this straight: The 2007 STi AND STi Limited BOTH have the VF43 correct?

this is correct,

And to the questiom asked, Both the vf39 and the vf43 both have the same p18 exhaust housing, the vf43 just has a different wastegate to prevent boost creep.

and the housing still cracks.

vf43 - still cracks but is a little thicker so it cracks LESS also has a larger internal wastegate, it's slightly bigger so you will have more power

Actually that link is incorrect the 2nd gear of the 07 sti should be 2.235....

Previous years had 2.375....

Thats what I've always thought....And when I checked cars101.com it not only said 2nd was revised it told me the same 2.235 ratio that I had thought.

If it hadnt been revised you'd have a gear jump of 2nd : 2.375 to the newly revised 3rd 1.521....To large IMO, at least for a 6 spd....

^^^

I wasnt meaning that as a "I told you so!" comment. Because I could still be wrong, but to the best of my limited knowledge I always thought that 2nd, 3rd and 4th were changed. Hell I havent even driven an 07 STI....

i couldn't imagine the vf43 being limited to only the 07's lol so surely they're in the 08's

i believe CynicX is correct with 2,3 and 4 being changed, my brother has an 07 (which obviously makes me no expert at all) and it pulls pretty damn hard, 4th gear is definitely longer with it making no effort at all to get above 99 mph, which seemed to be the avg. barrier for the previous models of sti's (correct me if i'm wrong)

But back on topic the basic difference is that the 43 is the new model of 39, just slightly redone like I said in my post #19

my little wrx will soon be the new home to a vf43
