Default THE next Hyundai Tiburon could be rear-wheel drive in an effort to draw hardcore driv

Hey guys, I got my hands on a little more info from the hyundai dealership I have worked at for a while now. The excitement keeps growing about the 2009 tibby. I have to admit that I am the last one here excited.....but its starting to get to me now............

Hyundai debuted its rear-wheel-drive Concept Genesis Coupe at the Los Angeles Auto Show recently, giving a hint of what the next Tiburon will look and drive like.
Front-wheel-drive sports coupes have faded away over the past few years. Remember the Toyota Celica, Nissan 200SX and Honda Prelude?
Tiburon is one of the last of the breed, still clinging to niche sales of 316 so far this year, a 37.5 per cent drop from 420 last year.
A minor tart-up in June this year still left it with the same mellow 2.7-litre V6 engine (123kW/245Nm).
While the next generation Tiburon was expected to get the 3.3-litre engine from the Sonata, the concept has been beefed up with a 223kW 3.8-litre V6 plus.
The all-alloy V6 is expected to peel out to 100km/h in less than six seconds and will feature a six-speed gearbox and limited-slip differential.
The production version of the concept car, yet to be named or confirmed as the next Tiburon or its replacement, will go on sale in the US in early 2009.
It is also being evaluated for sale in right-hand-drive markets including Australia.
Concept Genesis Coupe was designed at the Hyundai Design Center in Irvine, California.
It looks a lot like the Honda Civic Type R, especially with its twin tailpipes integrated into the rear bumper.
Up front are big-eyed headlights, and large air intakes. There are also large air intakes before the rear wheels with a subtle rear spoiler neatly finishing off the coupe.
Designers say they were inspired by Le Mans 24-hour racers, the specialist cars built by drifting tuners and by the cult Jada Toys Dub City die cast model vehicles.
The concept has been painted orange with a contrasting black carbon fibre bonnet, roof and ground effect spoilers. The car wears 20-inch, five-spoke wheels set deep into the wheel arches.
Tyres are Hankook 255/35 ZR up front and wider 275/35 ZR at the rear.
Hyundai says many of the concept's styling cues will make it to the production car.

You should see some of the pics Iv been looking at from our company of the ideas for this thing. VERY sick and priced the lowest of its class with a promise of best intitial quality! Im excited to sell something worth a look.

Um......This is news, so its were it needs to be. Guys this isnt about sticking up for the brand.....Hell iv sold the cars for over a year and have never really liked them. But its funny to hear you guys bash the idea of a car that will have 300hp to the rear wheels. You know the Veracruz beat lexus in every single catagory this past year and car and Driver along with other big names says " Finally there is a group of cars that are priced what they are worth for ounce."

Guess time will tell how this compares and competes in the near future. The facts are that this will be a car that cost less money and will outperform many of its competition. Dont confuse less money with the word cheap. These cars are built better than 90% of the competition today and have recived Best initial quality for every class they make. Not to mention they have the most inside room of any vehical in their class And the next class up along with the best fuel efficant cars available.

Im a Subaru guy always have been and always will be.....but Im into the who scene of the import world, not just a singleminded subaru lover. Making more of something is always admirable, but doing it with less is even more so. And the willingness to step up to that challenge is the defined trait of the import tuner!

I for one would love to start seeing something other than hondas at the track. Good luck hyundai!

I see the light

Please move or discard if you like. Was unaware of pre-existing thread since they do get bumped to the bottom and all Some of this is new info though so w/e It is for sure known that the new motor will be a beefed up 3.8v6 similar to the one that was in the Azera. There will also be the 4cyl. turbo overseas. 300hp. RWD also.
