Default I wanted to do something nice for my father this Xmas. I could use your opinion.

Instead of buying my dad something he doesn't need for Christmas, I wanted to do something for him with some meaning. I went out to see him in Cincinnati for Thanksgiving. Afterwards I drove a few hours north to his home town. My intentions were to get a good picture of the house he grew up in, have it framed, and give him that as a gift. When I got there, the houses on his old street had recently been knocked down to make room for a new high-rise condo complex.

I managed to snag a few decent shots of the railroad tracks that were behind his house. I know he will recognize them from stories he told me about him as a child. I wanted to run out and get it printed this afternoon, then take it to the framing store to be finished.

I am just having a hard time deciding on which one is the best. They aren't award winning shots, so bear with me here .

Can you help me out? 1, 2, or 3?

I like 1 the best. I like what you were trying to do with the composition in 2 but IMO I feel the green plants in the side take away from the picture.

So I'm going with 1

#3 gets my vote... the colors are amazing, and it's cool to see the wood/track contrast...

yea that is a very close second for me...the wood is what does it for that picture. The little bit of pavement on each side bothers me for some reason though.

Wait, which is 1, 2, and 3? We read left to right, so #1 should be on the left, but it's titled Track 3.

I guess flickr organized them wrong, even by number. Yeah, I guess just go by the picture heading number.

#1 FTW. the wood on the bottom of #3 messes up the flow of the railroad track. Great shots tho.

But it gives a little reference that his dad can probably relate to.

I'm going for Track1.. on the right... but they're all pretty sweet.

Its not the poll to kill the confusion its they way you have them numbered and arranged... normally 1 -> 3 not 3 -> 1

The wooden platform pulls your eyes down and is very distracting. it also takes up a large percentage of the photo with just a big chunk of boring wood. Same goes for track2small, but due to the trees

I voted for track3small

So, you're going to give your dad a photo of some railroad track, is that right?

Track3small

I agree that wood panel draws me in wrong.

I took a second look at it cause Track1small was getting good reviews and I like track3small.

Maybe he will recognize the wood panel more, :shrugs:

the one on the right. As said, crop all the crossing wood off the bottom - may just a touch off the top. Too bad about the white.orange pipleine/whatever marjer. maybe you can pchop it out somehow?

Get a woman to help you pick colors for the mat(s).

I really like the bend in #2, but the other two have better colors. I'm torn between #1 & #3, w/ wood or without. Don't sell yourself short, they're all great shots, I'm sure your dad will be happy with any of them.

If there's any way you would consider cropping part of track3small off the top, I think you'd be doing some good in getting rid of the sky since it's washed out.

Way too much sky in the middle photo.

Track1small is good, but the wooden planks at the bottom a kind of distracting. I'd go with track3small if I were you.
