Default OT: Advice needed re: CFL and contest prize

I may have won a 4th place prize in a contest which is a CFL jersey with the team and player and size of my choice.

I'm not very knowledgeable about the CFL. Obviously, I want a BC Lions jersey, but I don't know a lot about the players. If I were able to pick a past player, I'd might pick Passaglia. But if I'd have to pick a current player, who should I choose?

Who would you choose?

Also, in terms of size, do I choose a jersey size like I would choose a T-shirt size?

Any and all advise is appreciated !

Wow. Congrats!

You should probably go with Geroy Simon or Jason Clermont. Dickenson is probably gone (for good) although he has already been released. Jarious Jackson will be our starter next year but I don't think its someone you want if you had a choice.

Ian Smart is a good choice...

Since only a small percentage of the population knows the individual Lions, I'd go for someone with a cool last name. I know I wouldn't want to walk around with "Dickenson" on my back.

Really though, I think Simon is a good choice. He's a pretty solid player, and a fan favorite. Plus he's always making the highlight reels. The great thing about the CFL is that you could always have it autographed by him, since he's always around doing local functions during the season. He isn't Canadian born though, which may make a difference (since it is the CFL.). I don't care, but some do...

btw, Congrats on the win.

Simon is a good choice, but Dickenson will be a collector's piece as of next year

Or go with McAllum and show some love for the kickers

I've signed on to a couple of car maker mailing lists and they sometimes offer freebies and contests. Once I got an invite for a weekend at Whistler for a Volvo thing, but it got filled up too fast and I couldn't go. Last week I attended an Infiniti gala in Vancouver where they had Cirque du Soleil help reveal their new crossover. The free alcohol and food was nice (and Zach Spencer gave me a dirty look when I took a picture of him ).

This one was for a CFL contest that Nissan had put on. They actually sent me a second email to remind me to enter the contest--I guess they were desperate for people to enter it--so I did. At first when I saw "Fourth prize" I was really hoping for some small cash amount .

I did a quick poll at work and Simon, Clermont, and Johnson (is that any better than Dickinson? ) were some of the names mentioned. By far the most popular so far seems to be P. Jackson.

Clermont would be my choice. He's been with the Lions for a while now, and he is always a solid player and a nice guy.

Joe Smith is their best play, but boring name.
I love the way Rob Murphy plays.

Problem is, they move around so much, noone stays with the same team that long.
So you might want to pick an all-time great.
Or you can pick a bench warmer, and if anyone asks why you have his jersey, you can pretend you are buddies

If they let you go old school, go with Joe PaoPao.
He was my math teacher for a short time in high school, and backed up Doug Flutie as a QB, when he was in his mid 40's. A class act, and a CFL great through and through.

Plus you get to have a jersey with one of the coolest names in sports history.

awesome.
He's such a cool guy, I can believe that his kids are well brought up too. Seriously, nobody screwed around in his class, not even me.

I was starting to think that maybe this was some sort of scam and I wouldn't be getting a prize at all, but I was WRONG! I finally got my BC Lions jersey in the mail today complete with the player's name of my choice: PASSAGLIA #5

2XL is the perfect size and 5 is my favorite number, too!
