One film that actually had accurate silencer sounds in it was Hitman, The gunshots actually sounded like real supressed rounds as they weren't perfectly silent and gay...

Anyway, I was reading a review of the film back when it first came out and this critic didn't really say anything bad about the film except he kept whining how fake the gunshots were and how the silenced rounds were too loud to be real... I was like "WTF",

All in that order.

yeah, its irritating listening to how fake the gunshots are in most movies. Its even worse when they show the bullet+brass flying through the air.

this video does a pretty good job of showing the difference between supersonic and sub sonic bullets:

I love watching action flicks where the good guys and bad guys shoot it out (usualy inside a small room) then afterwords have a conversation.

Anyones who's ever shot a handgun inside without ear protection knows it's ****ing LOUD, and when you talk to somebody it goes something like:

"What!?"

"What!!?"

"I CANT HEAR YOU!"

"WHAT?"

There was one clip where the guy mentioned something about the bullet not cycling through. I don't shoot guns. What does that mean?

Numerous TV shows at least.... I remember a TV guide article from the 80's called "You Can't Silence a Revolver, and Other Hollywood Blunders"

The exhaust gas is used on semi-auto firearms to cycle the action and load the next bullet. Sub-sonic ammo doesn't create enough force to push the slide back, so he has to do it manually.

I'm pretty sure silencers are illegal in most states. I mean...the politicians are well educated by Hollywood shows.

I thought Black Hawk Down and Tears of the Sun depicted suppressor applications in a somewhat realistic way. Based on what I have seen and read, anyways.

The first MP5 was chambered in .45, second one was 9mm.

Notice that the .45 is more silent than the 9mm. 9mm is a way higher velocity round than .45 ,which is a big slow round.
