Default Edmunds Full Test: 2009 Nissan Murano LE

It's What People Want

What Works:
Upgrades to the transmission add responsiveness; significantly enhanced interior is a huge step for Nissan; resisting trend to third-row seating rewards second-row passengers with acres of room.

What Needs Work:
With rear seats occupied, cargo volume is still a little restricted; unremarkable fuel economy could be a deal-breaker in this segment.

Bottom Line:

Nissan retains attractive baby while throwing out dirty bathwater.

Much improved interior over the 03 I had but not impressed with the exterior changes. Wasn't huge on the old grill and I like the new on even less. Interior looks on par with Acura or infiniti to me instead of Nissan.

I liked the exterior better on the outgoing model, not much to improve upon. This looks more like the bmw.

I like the look of the old model better. That grille is just... ugh. However, the interior looks very nice! Glad Nissan is stepping it up in interior quality. While their exteriors have really improved over the years (talk about a company that really has redefined itself), their interiors have always ranked really low in my eyes in terms of aesthetics, materials, and overall feel.
