Default just getting started and had some Q's

i just got someones older laptop and finally upgraded the memory (from 256mb!!!) and the first thing i wanted to do was get enginuity and data log and then try and figure out what it all ment.

first, what other open ecu software is there and is it worth getting or should i wait for enginuity to come back?

second, i think the first thing i wanna do is get this mbc off of my car and put on a GM bc solenoid. what things would i need to change in the boost part of my stock map?

third, which prolly should be first, where can i read up on this stuff and figure out what to do and what not to do?

thanks for the help in advance

Read the "Enginuity down..." thread - you can find a link to the Enginuity software and definitions at a temporary mirror.

geez theres only 1000 threads about this just in the 2.0 forum, how many more do ya need??????? j/k its an improvement over stock as it can hold more boost and its more acurate (sp?) also its only $30ish for the solenoid and pigtail from your local GM place

My understanding of it:

GM allows you to hit a greater variance of targets (but changing your targets requires possible timing/fuel adjustments)

To simply hit your stock targets (pre-tune?) some scaling and recalibration of Initial Wastegate Duty map(s) (I've heard .7 of stock values is a good start, bump up as needed). Also the engines response to over/under boost via the Turbo Dynamics tables (Integral/Proportional) will likely be too extreme (I don't recall good numbers for this).

Please search for a more informative post before acting on this, this is meant as a rough summary.

so i just downloaded 0.4.1b, do i need subaru standard units definitions, standard units definitions, or standard units logger definitions? where do i put the files if i need them?

ie would the logger def's go in enginuity->src->enginuity->logger->definitions->xml?

You need the Enginuity ecu defs 0.8.0b (standard (i.e. imperial units) or metric units depending on your preference). Unzip the ecu_defs.xml file which replaces the same file in the main Enginuity directory.

Also need Enginuity logger defs 0.3.2b (standard or metric). Unzip the logger.xml file which replaces the same file in the main Enginuity directory.

For Ecuflash, you can also DL the 0.8.0b ECU defs for Ecuflash (standard or metric). To install, DELETE the Subaru folder in the openecu\ecuflash\rommetadata directory and then unzip and place the new Subaru folder in the same directory (if you are unsure of this directory, you can look it up in File->Options (metadata directory) from within Ecuflash.

well i was gonna start logging last night with a cable that my brother scrounged up when he had his audi but it was a com port and my laptop doesnt have one of those. i remember reading about a deal where you can get the tactrix cable and the LC-1 or it might have been the LM-1 wb o2 and i was wondering if someone had that link? does that package come with a gauge too or would i have to get one myself?
