Default anyone know how to install a aux jack or wire for an iPod?

I have an 02 rex with a stock radio. I just bought an iPod nano, and would like to connect the sucker to my stereo. However, the FM transmitter deals don't sound all that great. Is there anyway I could connect a harness of some sort from the back of my stereo to an iPod? Has anyone done this yet?

Do you have a 13 pin DIN plug on the back of the radio? If so, you may be able to wire in a plug for this exact purpose, for about $20 total...

Or see if the Jazzy hardwire kit works on your year.

FWIW, some of the "value" brand aftermarket HU's have come up with some pretty good native iPod integration for not too much more than $100. Even the Alpine 9883 and cable can be had for $200. Drop into a BestBuy or similar and ask if you can try your iPod with some of the different HU that support it. The upgrade in sound quality vs. the OEM HU might be worth it for ya.

I hard wired an FM transmitter into the back of my '02 stereo. It intercepts the FM signal between the antenna and the stereo. It goes to a 4.5mm headphone jack and I can plug it into a computer, ipod, satellite radio or what have you. It wasn't too hard, just had to ground it, splice the power and plug in the antenna and voila! They can be found at radio shack and the like for ~$20

One of the responses was to contact Jazzy. Have you done that?

The Jazzy board is simple, cheap and it works great. Check it out. I'm not certain there's a board for your particular application...but you gotta' go to Jazzy.

Have you used the Tape Deck adapter? or are you looking for some sort of integrated controls?

I would suggest the Jazzy Engineering. This is the route I decided to go with. I have an 03 but got a free 06 cd player, works great with the Jazzy. On their website, I believe theres a kit available for 02-04 year models. http://www.jazzyengineering.com/prod...products_id=47

In fact I just got done installing it in the car. I got the Subaru Aux-in Pro iPod Kit which is like $100 shipped, its an easy install just follow the directions on their site. It only takes about 1 hour to get the whole thing done. I highly recommend it, sound quality is great and your able to charge your ipod at the same time (which is a plus IMHO).

theres my 2cents.
