Default 01 WRX -> 02 WRX differences (JDM)

What were the differences between the 01 New age WRX and 02 New age WRX?

The reason I'm asking is since we got the WRX in the states so early in the 01 model year, did we get the 01 WRX labeled as an 02?? And if so, are we continuing to get the 01 when the 02 is available in Japan?

I think I know the differences between a US WRX and a JDM, but I'm wondering about the differences between a JDM 01 and 02 WRX

US years their cars one year ahead of everyone else..therefore 02 is really 01 everywhere else.

the differences are obvious...not sure if this was the answer your looking for.

So that means our 02 WRX is a JDM 01 WRX?

So that means our 03 WRX would be a JDM 02 WRX?

That means next model year we will get the new headlight assembly (w/ the blackened parts), front grille and such?

from what i was told we were getting the facelifted impreza in 03 as an 04 model and at the same time the possible introduction of the STi would be held(since mistu IS bringing the Evo VII) which now seems more and more likely. Unfortunately Subaru is hurting for sales in once predominant areas because of this new body style.

No, the models are the same worldwide (in terms of model styling) just the numbering system is different.

the lights are not different between the 01 and 02 JDM's...

the optional STi projectors are what you're referring to... I doubt they'll be coming over here w/o an STi to put them on.

The only differences I know of are the front grilling and possibly a re-gearing of the tranny (like the aussies got).

Didn't they also replace those "manual" antennas in the JDM New Age 2001 with a built-in antenna in the 2002 JDM?
Also, I didn't know they had the navigation screen (where the optional gauge pod sits) in the 2001 JDM, but saw that feature in the 2002 JDM (in the subaro.co.jp website) some time ago.

hmm no clue on the the antenna... the JDM pics of the 02 I've seen don't have the cheezy screwon thing we have.

the navigation system I doubt will be an option over here... just not something to go into the price range that subaru is marketing.

The 2001 Impreza came with our headlights. Period. As an option($2000), they had the Projector HID headlights.

In 2002 all Impreza(maybe just WRX's) came with Projector non-HID headlights. All Imprezas(as above) could add HID to their Projectors as an option.

There is no such thing as the STi specific headlights. (STI Type RA Spec C might have unique headlights now, though)

Say what?!?!? The latest GRM Subaru has a little blurb on how Subaru has blown away all previous sales records due in part to the WRX.

Quote:
Subaru projected 10,000 units (WRX's) were going to be sold in a 14 month period. As of november, Subaru had sold more than 13,000 copies of their rally-bred turbo-charged performer, with five months still remaining in the model year.
