Well afeter taking my deposit money, making me wait for 8 weeks, being unable to help me at all with registering the car in NY (he is in MA), he left a message on my machine that he is very sorry but he does not have the car for pick up this saturday as promiced and furthermore the car wont arive for another three weeks. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Yesturday he was telling me he was expecting it today. I bought insurance and activated it for this weekend. I have made special arrangments to get off work this weekend (had to ask for favors from coligues) so that I could travel to Mass to get the car. Last week he called and told me that somehow he had a car just like mine on the lot (but not mine) and that if I gave him the money now he would hold it for me. Needless to say I told him that I'll pay for the car after I see it and take a test drive - but asked him if he was ure my car would be there " Oh yes its in port right now" was the reply. as you can probably imagine to say that I am livid is an understatement. He is scum! :monkey: :monkey: :monkey: I am pretty sertain he sold my car to someone who walked in knowing how badly I want the car and that he already has my deposit money. : What recourse do I have? Does anyone know of a dealer in the tri-state area with a Black WRX wagon 5spd?

You should've just bought it in the NY metro area.
How is this a warranty or SoA issue anyway? What's the big deal? Just get your deposit back, find a local dealer and ask them to do a search on the car you want. If they can't find it, call Subaru and ask them to do a search. Ranting and raving will accomplish nothing. -Dennis |

bluesubie - you are rifht in one sence, but I'll tell you it made me feel better telling you folks, and I was hoping for some dirrection in my further action. I dont want to wait another 8 weeks for a new car via a diff dealership
However since being constructive is more important, can you recomend a dealership in the NY area? thanks |

The vin WOULD have helped in this situation. In other words, they found you a car a week ago. You should have requested the VIN immediately. This way they can't swtich the car on you and play this game. You'd be able to track it. Then you'd have some recourse if tehy say your car is in and the VIN didn't match.
One thing to remember also... MA dealers buy their cars through Subaru of New England (They are the distributor). NY doesn't. Your warranty and all that would have to be handled in MA, by Subaru of NE. SOA may give you a run around if you tried warranty work out of New England. You live in NY. While the MA dealership can still sell you the car, you'd be better off buying in NY as they are NOT Subaru of New England. Subaru of New England has no ways of helping you in NY. That's why they wouldn't help you with the registration. Not that they didn't want to, they can't. --KC |

KC, I disagree with every point of your last post.
Even if he had been given a VIN, what would his recourse be if they didn't deliver that particular car? Stamp his feet? He could demand his deposit returned, but he still wouldn't have a car. It's true the MA dealers don't buy their Subarus directly from SOA. So what? NY dealers don't buy their Subarus directly from SOA either. They buy them from a distributorship for NY and northern NJ called Subaru Distirubtors Corp. The new car warranty is from SOA and is honored at ANY Subaru dealership in the US, regardless of where in the US the Subaru was purchased. As far as assisting with out-of-state registration, that's depends completely on the competence and willingness of the individual dealership. It has nothing to do with whether or not they purchase their new cars from Subaru of New England. Savka, Some people from the City have found it worthwhile to purchase their new Subarus from Van Bortel Subaru in Rochester, NY (http://www.vanbortelsubaru.com/). Generally, $400 over invoice without haggle or hassle. Call them up to see whether they have the body/transmission/color you need. If so, they can easily add the accessories you want to the car before purchase. When it comes time next week to pick it up, just hop on a Jet Blue from JFK in the morning and drive it home in the afternoon. |

Jon - I think you're right too. I've had warranty work done in SC and I live in NJ. Subaru of NE is kind of wacky though with the way it's ran.
savka - Try the Tri-State Forum for more local information. The farther you get from NYC, the better the service and attitude is. -Dennis |

I agree with Bluesubie. NYC dealerships are the worst, for any car.
