Post Importation of Japanese spec. cars

Does anyone know how to import Japanese spec. cars into the States? A dozen people have told me it can't be done, regardless of whether you want to register it for road use or not. (I don't.)But on Ben's Rally Page, there are Evo's a-plenty for sale and they're all in the states. I can't imagine that all these Evo owners had their cars disassembled to get them into the country, so there must be a way. Anyone know?

If you send me an e-mail I will give you all the info I found on importing J.spec cars. It is VERY difficult and expensive. For racing purposes I think you are allowed to bring them in.
