Default I just watched HEAT for the first time ever, and I have to say...

I'm not very impressed... *shrugs*

Sure, the bank scene + shootout was incredible, but the way the movie was made/directed was terrible. The first 1/3 of the movie you don't even know what the hell is going on because they are tying to do character development yet FAIL in the way they do it...

For years now I've been getting slack from people who were surprised to find out that I never saw "HEAT", so I finally broke down and rented it... maybe I they over-hyped it for me? I dunno, but all I have to say is that a movie with that many great actors should have been faaaaaaar better.

In closing I have to mention that I love Robert DeNiro... I don't know what it is about that guy...

I thought the opposite.

The shootout in the city was amazing.

Just the sounds alone made that scene one of the best gunfights I've ever seen. just turning up the bass and volume a bit and you could swear you were in a real city in the mdidle of a real gunfight.

most movies use the corny ass lazer and ricochet sound effects, but not heat.

I just bought this movie after renting it for 10 or so years.

The action scenes are top notch and the other parts are kind of boring, but necessary for character development. Pacino and DeNiro are incredible and Kilmer and Sizemore are great, too.

DeNiro and Pacino both hate each other so it is a treat to actually see them acting together in the same movie. They were both in the Godfather II but they weren't in any scenes together.

One of my all time favorites.

I'd hate to have to pay that Blockbuster bill. I thought if you "rented" a movie for 10 years you had pretty much bought it already.

This same thing has happened with other movies and books that have been hyped out of all proportion. If I had no expectations, it would have been a good movie. But when everyone says "OMFG it's the best movie ever", then it's only good, you feel like it's crap.

"300" was like this for me, I got caught up the hype, and when I saw it, I thought it was pretty meh. I could see the elements that people liked, but I didn't feel like it was a good movie.

I have to agree. I saw it about 10 years ago. It's too long and slow to develop.

Yeah, two of the coolest roles ever right there, DeNiro in Heat or Ronin. That alone makes it a good movie. Far and away the best gunfight EVAR on film, ending sucked though.

Why do they make a character so cool and then have them go out like a punk in the end?

if you're a guy and don't like heat you have the gay. not only is it an amazing action film, it has some of the best character development ever put on celluloid. the coffee shop scene with deniro and pacino is brilliant.

I liked heat alot, had to watch it a few times to get it (of course I was 16 or so when it came out.) Ronin is also one of the best movies of all time. I warn you though, if you watch the alternate ending, it'll pretty much destroy any hope you still had left.

Yep, best non-war movie shootout ever.

Eh, then my guess is you don't understand or appreciate nice movies. Go watch Transformers again instead. Thanks for playing.

That's because the sound engineer for that movie is a ****ing badass. His name is Lee Orloff, he's also been the sound engineer for Pirates of the Caribbean (the 1st one at least), ABYSS, Terminator 2, the Patriot, and a few others.

All of those movies have EXCEPTIONAL sound. I did a report on him for a sound class a while back, and the funniest part was I was trying to decide on which movie to do: Heat or Pirates, and they ended up both having the SAME sound guy! haha.
