Looking for a cheap little upgrade for my new (to me) '99 OBS. I've read the mid pipe and axleback will bolt on. I'm not sure what the exhaust looks like under there. Is there a resonator that I can cut out as well?

A WRX catback doesn't just bolt on. You have to extend the midpipe and rotate the flange. Yes, there is a resonator in the midpipe. Also, the hanger right in front of the muffler won't line up with the corresponding hanger on the car.
Here's what the exhaust shop did on my car... Cut the stock midpipe right behind the flange where it meets the cat pipe. Cut the WRX midpipe right behind the resonator. Hang the exhaust. Weld straight pipe between the small section of stock midpipe that's left on the car, and the WRX midpipe. Ends up looking like this... (note the missing hanger - you don't need it anyway) ![]() |
