Default Glove Box Rattle

Does anyone else have a glove box that just won’t shut as tightly as it did new? Mine rattles like crazy. I was wondering if anyone has experience with a dealer and this sort of issue. Do they usually tell you to deal with it or try to fix it? I would imagine it would need a new latch. I guess all I can say is that I'm thankful my car has such a minor problem, but it sure it annoying.

Thanks!

Go to Radio Shack and buy a set of those little black round rubber nubs that you stick on the bottom of speakers (to prevent them from sliding). Stick 3 of them across the top of your glovebox door, where it meets with the dash. Whaalah, your box is now snug again!

I did it at less than 1k, and at 9k it's still snug!

Thanks no rex yet, I was thinking about something similar. I was just scared that a rattle would turn to a squeak if I did that.

My glovebox handle was rattling, which I fixed with a bit of felt. 99 percent of the WRX interior noise comes from plastic on plastic contact. I'm thinking that either felt or cork stickies should fix troublesome areas.

I mentioned it to my dealer (while the car was in for a more important issue). I don't have the invoice at hand, but they wrote something like "Glove box door is loose. Not adjustable." They might have tried to do something if I had raised hell, but it didn't bother me that much, so I let them off the hook. When I mentioned that I might try something like the solutions suggested above, they said it sounded like a good idea.

Default Back from the dealer

Well, they couldn't determine the cause of the glove box problem. I'm guessing it's just poor design and the plastic parts are stretching with age. So, I'm going back to get some minor things put back on the car like the gasket that goes around the door switch for turning the lights on and off. Also, my driver side floor mat's binding was starting to come undone so they're getting that replaced too. The note on the invoice says that they will check the glove box when I bring it back for the stuff mentioned above.

I had them check the dent in my oil pan too. They said that since it didn't hit the area where the pick up screen is there is no need to replace it at this time.

Pretty good experience with the service guys, which is a nice change.

However, I forgot to ask that they not wash my car. They washed it and attempted to dry it with a very wet chamios(sp) so the car was covered in white calcium deposits from water spots.

I guess I just have to remember to ask that they leave it dirty, or stop being so anal about the finish on her.
