Default Check Engine Light

Ive got a check engine light. Can I use my Tactrix cable with Enginuity or any other open source software to read the OBD II codes?

You'll need ecuExplorer to do it.

I've never been able to get ECUExplorer to work for me. I bought an OBD2Allinone cable to pull codes. Problem now is sometimes it conflicts with the com port for the tactrix drivers. Fundamentally ECUexplorer works, just not for me apparently.

You can't rely on Ecuexplorer for code reading as it is not an obdii scanner and the feature was never fully developled. Only if your ROM revision happens to match the template of bit checks that is supported, will it read correctly. Unfortunately, this can change not only between different years, but different ROM revisions in the same model and year. It seems to work fine on the USDM 02 WRX, but I've tried it on an 03 WRX later ROM revision and it returned something like 5 codes (when only 1 was actually set), in which some of the codes it returned didn't even apply to vehicle.
