Lightbulb 'New' WRX Replacement Clutches

You guys can take this however you want but.....

A good friend of mine works as a Subaru mechanic at the local dealer. He very recently mentioned to me that Subaru has started to replace the clutches on WRXs that come in with tranny problems with a newer STRONGER clutch. He showed me one that he was installing at the time and the difference with the stock one that comes with the car.

Just passing this tip to all of you, and again, take this as you may.

Question

I'm really not knowledgable when it comes to tranny stuff, but the springs (?) looked A LOT bigger and stronger than the stock clutch. I'll see if I can get some pics up.

Pics would be really nice. It sounds like maybe this is the same new clutch assembly that people are talking about over in this thread.

Hmm, sounds like it might make the transmissions life a bit tougher.

Any idea if they are putting this in the new WRX's they're building?

I'm picking mine up in March.
