Default Front LSD

Hey can anyone tell me why in God's name when I took apart my front diff housing today in the STi, the entire casing on the front LSD has angular score marks all the way around it on the side opposite where u bolt the ring gear... I'll post pics later.

almost looks like it got installed backwards...like the left was installed on the right side and the pinion was adjusted wayyyyyy incorrectly.

weird.

I'm starting not to wonder why this tranny was up for sale.

Looks like the pinion was way too deep on the ring gear....or somehow the retaining nut backed off and let it climb up into the diff housing..... Whatever happened, it ain't good!
