Default Subaru WRX vs Mitsubishi Galant (or my wreck)

Well I was in an accident last week.... my neck and back were hurt but it's not super painful. I was at a complete stop behind another car on my way back from lunch when someone ran full speed into the back of my car. I went into the car in front of me. This was on Beltline westbound near its intersection with Quorum in Addison.

I ended up when scratched and dented front/read bumpers... he KO'd his car though. It was un-drivable, both airbags deployed and had a destroyed windshield.

The impact knocked all the dust and dog hair out of my seats (which I thought was kind of funny later on).

In case you were wondering... yes the driver was Asian.

Of course I delivered on the tittywop

Which shop in the Addison-Plano-Dallas area is the best bet to get my body damage fixed? USAA says about 1300 bucks worth of visual damage on the front and back but there is probably more they can't see just from looking at it. SoP uses Xtreme Collision so I was thinking about going there but I've recently read some bad reviews online about them...

man, everyone is getting in wrecks is seems. (knocking on wood).

I would go with whomever USAA recommends. If you go to one of their preferred shops, things get done easier. It removes you from the loops as far as the $ and headache goes.

Works for a ins co... knows the drill.

I was very amazed at how well the subaru held up. I was certain I was going to look around and see my entire back smashed in.

Whoa!!!!! Your car looks great compared to that Galant. That guys car looks totalled. His Hood has the whole tent thing going. How much damage do you have up front?

scratched bumper... it's also been pushed up a little, you can't really tell unless you look at it hard enough.

The back has more damage but if you were to stand back 50ft you probably couldn't see that either. That white on the bumper is paper in the guy's hand.

Sorry to hear that. I was rear-ended last Wednesday on the Tollway.

My car is at Details, Limited in Addison. They came highly recommended. No work has been done yet, but the process has gone smoothly so far. Are you filing through your insurance or with his insurance directly?

I filed with my insurance the other insurance co already accepted liability. USAA already gave me my money for the visual repairs. They said anything else that needs to be fixed will be between the body shop and the insurance. I'm going to take it in after we get done traveling for the holidays. Probably around the 5th or so.

Basically I filed with mine and they handled everything with his insurance for me. USAA made it really easy for me. Once all this is over with I'm going to try to get some depreciated value out of it too. Sucks that I've had the car for two years and it has already been wrecked.

I have USAA as well and they have great customer service. Before I got my suby I was in a wreck and they handled everything. Basically they paid me with my policy and then went after the other guys insurance company for reimbursement. This way I could go buy another car without having to wait for the other guys insurance to come through (can't remember who they were, but they sucked. Guy was at fault, even got a ticket for the wreck, and they still had to "look into it"). Anyways, hope everything gets sorted out and I'm glad you weren't severely injured.

Make sure your neck and back get checked out. If you can prove a new injury from the accident future liability will be put on the other driver and should be paid for by his insurance.

Maybe you can get his license pulled, at least suspended. Some people just don't deserve the privilege of driving.

Well I'm not sure he deserves to not drive anymore... he was driving too fast and the streets were wet. Plenty of people make this mistake.

My first reaction after being hit was to be angry at the guy but after a few minutes and seeing the pickle this guy was in compared to myself I calmed down. I'm sure he's coming out of this a lot worse off than I did. He was honest with the insurance companies and I suppose he accepted liability quickly.

I did go to the doc and everything seems to be fine.

All depends on how much $$$ I can get. Asian greed>Jewish greed

The OP's description sounded like he got slammed in the back at about the speed limit. But hey if he learned his lesson that eyes on road = better driving, let the insurance rates eat him.

Getting your back/neck checked out is one thing, going after the dude just to get money is another. But as long as you sleep well at night.
