Question Hood scoop grate thingy to delete scoop?

Somebody out there makes a mesh hood scoop delete, kinda like on an Evo hood. I have seen them on a few WRX / STI's including one sitting at Engine Logics but nobody seems to know where to ge them. Please help, I really want one.

Thanks,

Chris

just out of pure wonder.. why would you want one of those there hood fence thingies but seriously is it just the look of it? personaly i think its not to too attractive but thats just opinion i would think thats a pain in the a** to keep the engine bay lookin nice... i know the whole point is to vent heat but so would the scoop with less exposure

Since it already happened once today, we can expect this thread to get locked because Vivid has been banned from NASIOC.com

If you skip the scoop, no ones knows it's an STi, this can be good and bad.

....ummm no. There are plenty other things to look for when looking for an STI. Brembos, BBS, STI interior, STI gauges, rear flender flare bumper portion, etc.

Even so, some people like going 'sleeper' anyway.

Just a word of warning from the manufacturer (you may not get adequate air flow with a TMIC, if that's what some of you are thinking):

Quote:
WRX/STI Hood Vent (scoop delete) - 04/05 - semi-flat black
SKU: KST-HVSD-0405-PCB

Replace the scoop on your 2004-2005 WRX or STI with an unique Hood Vent that sets your car apart from the masses and gives it a stealthy look. The frame is CNC machined from 6061 aluminum, and the mesh is a custom pattern in phosphated steel that is powder coated for maximum durability and corrosion resistance. The whole Vent weighs only 2.30 lbs. which is less than the factory scoop and splitter.

This item is powder coated in semi-flat black - both the mesh and the surround.

Recommended for cars with front-mount intercoolers only.

I guess you are too new to realize.

Vivid is to NASIOC as Bin Laden is to George Dubya.

If you dont get that then...well...your lost!

I bet some of you don't believe it, but I swear the 02/03 and 06/07 versions are close. Other projects and no cars to prototype the deletes on have hindered the development. But Scott (aka "sperry") and Kendrick (aka "token negro") have come through with hoods for me to work on. This is a pic of the 06/07 prototype frame, and the 02/03 version is even closer to ready:

The final version's fasteners will be hidden and of course the black mesh will be added. Still some work to be done on the shape and pulling the corners down flush with the hood.

While the car is moving there is no more water coming in than a normal hood scoop. While sitting there is of course more, but it is not that big a deal. The scoop holes sits more over the transmission than the engine anyway.

We have made a few block-off plates for people to put on in the winter. It goes beneath the mesh to keep the look, but covers the hole.
