Question pardon my ignorance....

hey guys, i'm fairly new to the tuner world, and i'm beginning the odyssey of tuning my new WRX. that being said i have a couple questions:

1. ordered the GFB hybrid blow off valve. it's "adjustable tension", i know what that means, and i understand what happens at the valve under high and low tension ( i said fairly new), however, what would y'all recommend i set the tension to? high, low, middle, etc....? what is the happy medium of performance?

2. exhaust wrap. use it, don't use it? as soon as parts are available i'm doing intake, turbo back exhaust, headers, without the wrap will i have signifigantly higher underhood temps? or does it really matter?

thank you for any info you can give, and trust me there will be more questions in the near future i'm sure.

-Kev

Regarding the wrap. I say do it. The idea is to keep the exhaust gas's temp higher, but not because of engine bay temps. Primarily it increases the scavenging effect of the exhaust. Basically it allows the engine to breath more efficiently, and that means more power potential. I wrap my turbo and dp.

I'd personally hold off on the header, until you are making significantly more power... unless there is something new with the 2008 headers. Some members here are making 650 whp with the stock headers; You're money might be better spent elsewhere.

Not familiar with the GFB BOV specifically, but there isn't really going to be a happy medium of performance... Because there really isn't any "performance" to be had. If you are expecting to make more power because of it, it's unlikely. You'll have to adjust the tension to whatever holds the boost pressure without leaking, and opens adequately when you lift the hammer.

check out the FAQ's and Scooby Mods.

to add from above - both the stock air box and header are good till 650awhp.

just get a drop in filter and call it a day - an intake is just money pissed down the drain

also - return the BOV - there isnt a performance gain, just potential damage to be done

biggest bang for the buck are turbo upgrades and Turbo Back Exhausts (TBE) and of course a good tune
