Default Aliens > Alien > Alien Resurrection > Alien 3

Resurrection and Alien 3 are a close tie for worst, but Resurrection beats 3 just because of the cool spaceship imagery and Ripley clone #8 having hybrid alien superpowers. Alien 3 had way better acting and wasn't nearly as cheesy, but it loses because it was just kind of boring.

Random personal conclusion of the day after having watched the entire series sequentially within the last month.

The alien 'dog hybrid' was one of the more interesting cinematic monsters around.

True, Alien 3 wasn't a 'fun ride' like Aliens was, but it's understandable since it went with the old formula the original film - desolation, helplessness, and atmosphere (you're stuck on a rock, rather than a spaceship, no viable weapons to defend yourself, and some pissed off Xenomorph is out to **** your day).

Personally, I feel it's a better film than Resurrection.

3 was a better movie, it's true.

winona rider was terrible in resurrection. resurrection was just slightly more entertaining, with it's CGI and stuff. maybe they tie for last place, one for being boring and one for being stupid.

I liked the set design in Alien Resurrection. I never cared that much for Alien, but I loved Aliens.

Never watched 3 because I didn't want to tarnish my total love of the first two movies.

Resurrection was hilarious and seemed to me to have almost nothing in common with the first two besides having sigourney weaver and some aliens.

This is actually the correct answer.

They went back to the formula of one alien running amok and its a vast improvement.

I wouldn't put it ahead of one and two. But it held its own, and the distance between it and resurrection is huge.

Aliens>Alien>Alien3>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Resurrection .

I boycotted AvP long before it came out when I learned it was PG-13. I hope I never see it. And I will not see the new one.

I've seen both, and quite frankly felt that the francise have taken the wrong turn.

Don't get me wrong - I enjoy any given well-written action-packed sci-fi.

I tend not to take any given movie too seriously and enjoy the ride (for what it's worth), but I couldn't help but to feel a bit of a let down that the series have succumbed to the tired and typical Hollywood formula.

i blame the diehard fanbois for hurling those cinematic pieces of chit upon us. they just HAD to have their AvsP movie.. ive seen the forums where they congregate.. its disturbing. they memorize all the different subspecies and variants of the aliens and the predators...

It's as if Joel Schumacher or Uwe Boll got ahold of the rights to the Alien and Predator series.

well there was this one dude i used to know who became some PR goon for epic entertainment who spawned his own forums called gamegossip a few years back and there was this dedicated avp section, (this was about 5+ years before the first movie) , the guy used to work for fox interactive before that, and fox owned all the rights to the movies or whatever, bllabaabalah

you could see if that site is still up, i havent talked to the guy in ages, he got mega rich(er) hes probably driving lamborghinis or something now

The first two are Sci Fi ICONs of perfection. They will remain two of the best Sci Fi movies every made. I prefer Aliens as the most pure combination of acting, special effects, set design, action and horror.

I just saw AvP-R and its a far cry from AVP, which in itself is nothing more than a popcorn movie..

I my order of preference

Aliens
Alien
Aliens 3
AVP
Aliens Resurrection
AvPR

wound up watching Alien a couple nights ago actually. which spawned the desire to watch Predator last night. Alien is really in a class all its own. the SOUND in that movie is so amazing.

I like them all , they are all good movies in their own rights (not including the AvP junk).

However i like to pretend Alien had no sequels at all and exists independantly.
