Default How can I switch my STi to FWD for short period, un-expected trip on snow

I'm about to head up to the mountain and lots of snow. I will be driving on auto with no chains untill required. After that I want to put my car to FWD and put chains in front since I don't have 4 of them and not only that I tried putting 4 last winter and it was pain in the ass and still couldn't put them on. So this is why I am doing this.

Please don't say "Its AWD you can do it" because no really I can't I allready messed up my car once by hitting ice because I thaught I can do it.

I am on Potenza's RE070.

Thanks

How about you put some damn winter tires on a car you'll be driving in the snow? The car isn't the problem, it's your thought process.

I see this "mountain" as a metaphor for your life.

Just pull the parking brake all the way of before you head out. FWD FTW.

But seriously get a frigging clue. You have summer tires on your AWD car...do not seek the mountain. Get prepared or get a ride. Chains are well... whatever. Just quit being dumb in public it lowers averages.

To answer the question,

You cant. Period. Short of getting an old FWD impreza transmission, from a like 1996 1.8 L, its simply not possible.

Its possible to make it REAR wheel drive, but not front.

So just forget any notion of making it FWD.

OMFG I read the manual if ur on a spare tire u can put a switch to FWD, Im not asking for ur gay ass flaming. I'm going up there it's un-expected. Its allways summer where I live and no need for winter tires. I got chains but putting chains on 2 wheels with diff on auto will **** it up.

1. You should not drive in the snow on RE070s.
2. You cannot change your car to FWD.
3. You can put "chains" on your tires for short term. Be careful, as I have no idea how well the RE070s will handle it. Here is a link as an example.

Have you considered removing your rear wheels? That would emphasize the contribution of the front wheels...
