Default Need Help! (please) (aftermarket alarm)

Hey guys, the aftermarket alarm on my wifes mustang is set on engine kill mode and wont turn off. It only goes off when I try to start the car. It wont crank over and the alarm goes off. We bought the car used and dont know the alarm it has installed. I know it was installed by a dealership, but dont know which one. Does anyone know how to bypass an alarm or take one out?

Look under the dash for the unit and unplug it.

Set said mustang on fire. That should take care of your problem

Ok so I found the alarm and tried unplugging the three wires that splice, via plug, into some other wires. Nothing worked. Also just completely unplugging the alrm doesnt work either. If anyone can fix this Ill give you 20 bucks.

look for the wires that come from the ignition key, larger wires.

There will be a factory wire that is cut and then connected to two seperate wires that go to the starter kill relay installed with teh alarm.

What you have to do is reconnect the factory wire back to together.

+1 look for the heavy gauge starter wire coming off the main ignition harness from the key cylinder. its the only wire in that harness that will be cut in half. each half will be connected to the alarm (key side and starter side). cut them off the alarm and re-join them with a butt-connect it back together. that will allow the car to start again.

oh yeah depending on what kind of alarm it is will determine if it uses an external relay or a built into the brain relay. like viper alarms are built into the brain and the starter disable wires are purple and green.

as in what year is the car? is it an aftermarket alarm or factory kit? it may need to be reprogrammed through the dealership.

Took it in to the dealership. Found out the battery was defective and was not giving enough power to the electrical system. The key had somesort of little transmitter in it and the ignition has the reciever. Well the reciever wasnt working so the car thought the ignition was being turned without the key, so the alarm was killing the car. They originally thought the alarm was malfunctioning but it was working perfectly. But yeah, we're getting rid of it pretty soon.
