need help in this area....

Basically I'm just looking for a very good all around system. I want similar quality to the Bose systems in the Mercedes Cars. I don't want really tinny highs as I've seen in Kenwood speakers, I don't want excessive bass.... I'm pretty open to suggestions except from Kenwood or Pioneer,... I don't like either companies. Thanks for your help.

if u want the sound quality look into eclipse or nakamichi or mcintosh head unit. for the price of that sony or kenwood u can get better things over here.

as for the speakers if u want infinity go for the perfects.

it all depends on what your budget is though

Y'might want to look into a Nak MB-100 on the Nakamichi side(approx $700). No amplifier included, with a separate pre-amp unit. It supposedly puts out GREAT sound(superior to just about any HU that includes an amp), and it's a 6 disc in-dash changer. The only problem I've heard about it is that it can be picky about CDRs(mostly related to the color of the disc. Silver and gold should play fine in it though.

As for speakers, check into the Diamond Hex line. Nice sounding speakers, and they're pretty slim(less than 2 inches mounting depth). If you're looking at serious audiophile grade speakers, look into Rainbow, A/D/S, or Dynaudio(the Dynaudios will probably require kick panels). I've also heard that OZ makes a good tweeter(not sure which one though), and that Orion has some sound-off quality speakers.

Note:The Blau San Fran will require you to cut or something to fit itinto your dash. It's face is a bit too wide because it is Din-E sized(Euro Din). It also doesn't fit exactly right in the mounting brackets probably.

your not going to find sites that carry eclipse. u can only buy in the stereo shops. its the warranty thing that they have. for that deck though, u should be able to get it for around $500-$600

Im partial to the Nakamichi decks as well, i also like eclipse decks. Infinity speakers are very nice although i dont think the basslink is all that great. I personally like JBL speakers and amps

are there any reasons why I would go with the MB-100 vs. the MB-75 (Nakamichi)? Mind you I'm not a true true audiophile, so my budget isn't too considerably large... thanks for all the input guys

The MB 75 has an internal amp. The MB 100 routes it's digital signal to an external DAC/pre-amp processor.

The difference in price between the two is about 300 dollars, but the difference in quality is worth it. The absence of the amplifier and the precision of the DAC/pre-amp make a big difference in performance and reliability. All signal starts at the HU, so you should get a good one. As to how nice you want, think about what you want and bump it a little so you don't decide to buy another HU later on. That's a real easy way to make a $400 HU cost $6-700.

And if yer not a true audiophile, Infinity kappa speakers should be fine. Just make sure you get a decent sized amp(at least 50 watts RMS per channel).

And as to the basslink, it's a good choice for someone who doesn't want to "bump". It does do more than fill the low end out, but it doesn't get nasty loud like some people like.
