In conclusion, the best advice that can be given regarding purchasing HID is simply to do your research. Take the time to search through the huge number of threads on this forum concerning this topic, as well as those on http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/ (if you plan on retrofitting). Here are a couple of comprehensive lighting FAQ sites with lots to dig through that I linked to throughout this post:

i have taken a look at that stuff before, but it seemed a little out of my range for the amount of work i wanted to do. maybe i didnt come off clear, i was wondering how much work would be associated with taking the whole STI headlight assembly, and making them work in my car. at this point it doesnt seem like it will be plug + play...

Same headlights, just differently designed reflectors, so just pop out the old headlights, install the STi ones and plug and play I'm sure.

you would most likely have to upgrade your wiring anyways. looks like you'll need the headlights, wiring/harness/plugs, ballasts, and DRLs disabled.

Then just get plug n plays, honestly, not the best option but I installed a set in my friends 04 WRX and it came out fine. We aimed to factory specs and then lowered it from there to minimize glare.

Why would you need the DRL disabled? Is there something wrong w/ having HID's w/ as DRL?

its not THAT hard to do retrofits, but it is kind of expensive, you just need an extra pair of headlights it just takes alot of time baking, sodering, getting ther perfect shroud/ bezel that you want and alot of measuring. Check out hidplanet.com's forums or talk to LightWerks they have alot of cool stuff to read about

DRL's usually run at less power then when the lights are on usually. Therefore the HID's would not get the power it needs and implode on itself sucking the lights and the car into a blackhole

But seriously the first part is true.
