Post STPR Meet this year!( June 2)

For any of the rally fans out there, there is going to be a meet on Saturday at the STPR Pro Rally in Wellsboro, PA right after the first stage when everyone comes back to town for the "half-time". With the WRX's arrival and now with Prodrive here with their Type R's, I would expect a huge Subaru turn-out( usually is anyway).

We'll meet up in a pretty large parking lot near the end of town right before the McDonalds. It should be a good time because just about everyone is back in town for the break. The STPR website is www.stpr.org , keep in mind, they have not updated it yet from last year so the dates are wrong, but it still has great info on places to stay and how to get there and that sort of thing. I'll post a reminder a bit closer to the rally. Thanks.

-Matt

I'll do my best to make it three years in a row attending. Unfortunately I managed to meet up the the Subaru people (despite seeing a million cars in town).....so I'll definately keep my eyes open on this one!

I'm pulling the hat-trick ('99, '00, '01). Do you know if they are having the Special Olympics TSD again? It was incredible last year.

Lee, I would have to assume they would still have the Charity Rally again. I believe it's been going on for a while now.

I think a meet up there would be a good idea since as Nat said, I've heard from alot of people that they see a ton of Subes, but not too much "mingling" goes on between any of the owners. It'll be nice to have a bunch of owners in one spot to converse with one another

Faraz, maybe you can change the date to June 1st and 2nd on the Tri-State page so it won't confuse anyone. I'd imagine STPR's updated site will be along shortly.

Rather than just being useless bystanders my friend and I might sign up to help out. When I get off my butt and contact someone I'll post what things we can volunteer for incase anyone else is interested.

STPR has their updated site up now. Check it out at http://www.stpr.org/stpr01/index.html

For the hardcore guys that are going to be going this year, the site has info from lodging and camping, to volunteer packages and lists descriptions of each position as well as other info.

One word of advice, if you plan on staying at a hotel or somewhere even remotely close to Wellsboro, call immediately! We made reservations about a month and a half ago and most of the close places were already booked solid.

Again, the Meet is going to be near the end of town by the McDonalds sometime late morning/early afternoon when all the cars are back for the "half-time". Should be a hell of a gathering. Good time to get with fellow Subes and discuss what stages you are going to spectate that evening.

And for those of you who were never there and have even the slightest chance to go, DO IT!!! There is no motorsport like Rally.

Just bringing this up to the top in case any newbies happened to float in in the last few months.

And in case you didn't see it in the general or motorsports forum, SOA is going to have a huge presence there this year(not just the team, but reps, execs, VP's and all). Since it's the closest Pro Rally to Cherry Hill, NJ, it gives them an excellent opportunity to get out there and promote the team, not to mention it gives some of their employees a chance to experience what a rally is all about(especially since STPR is one of the best).

The meet will be anytime after the cars arrive back at the "Green", maybe around 3:00 or so depending on the rally cars. So check out the Rally cars, then head down to the meet.(I invited the guys from SOA down as well ) Should be a great time.

And BTW Lee, according to the flyer I just got, the Rally for the Special Olympics will be held Friday June 1st from 3:00-6:00pm.

akhunner, as far as I know, anybody can do it. But I couldn't find any info on their site about it. Maybe give them a call or post on their Bullentin Board that they now have: STPR's New Bullentin Board

The flyer says they are having it but you never know.

The Special Olympics TSD will be Friday, registration at 2, first car off at 3. Entry is $25 before May 25th, $30 after that.

When it was brought up at the last FLR SCCA Rally meeting, we were told almost all dirt roads, generally roads in good condition, but nice and dusty to slide around on.
Hopefully, I'll be driving against some of you in it, and I'll probably be working at STPR all weekend.

Well, then, I'm down for the Special Olympics TSD! I'm 99% sure I already have a navigator for it, but I want to encourage the rest of you to sign up. TSDs are a blast, especially on dirt!

Just a bump since it's getting close. We are going to take a ride up this weekend and find out exactly where the meet is going to be and I will post all the info after that.

BTW, W&L Subaru will have their "PR" WRX up there which you won't be able to miss(neither by sight nor sound ) It will have such goodies as the complete STi suspension kit, STi Motor and Tranny Mounts, Kartboy goodies, W&L's "Group A" style mudflaps(soon to be released), and a bunch of other stuff. And if all goes well, it will be fitted with a few other new products from the true East Coast rally car tuner...RalliSpec. Just look for the silver WRX sedan with the WRC Impreza roof scoop and the 18" OZ Prodrives. For you WRX owners, it will be a perfect opportunity to not only see the products W&L's Motorsport Division will be offering, but actually feel how they work, feel, and sound on a test drive. We'll be giving out T-Shirts at the meet as well, so make sure you're there
