Default Logging?

I have decided to tune the car myself, but for some reason I can not log. I have tried many of the free downloads but none of them seem to work. It seems as if I do not have the complete sofware. I was looking into buying EcuEdit Pro. Does anyone have any other suggestions or thoughts that can help me out. I am tuning with a tactrix cable. Thanks.

Buying ecuedit is not going to help you log. Likely your issue is user error, but without more details on your part it is difficult to narrow it down. Did you install Ecuflash which installs the drivers for your tactrix cable? What OS are you using (e.g. XP, Vista, Mac, etc.)? What application are you trying to log with? Did you change the COM port in the logging application?

When I installed EcuFlash, it asked if I wanted to install the OpenPort drivers. Duh, I did.

When I plugged in the cable, it started looking for a driver to use with it. I pointed it towards that driver, and it works. It took me a while to figure this out, because I thought they had already been "installed" but really, the driver is just on your computer, but not in use. Was this any help?

Thanks for all the info guys, but I still can not get it to work. I have read just about everything there is to read and still no luck. I will try again because it might just be user error, if not I guess I will buy the EcuEdit Pro. Thanks.

Like I said, buying Ecuedit will do nothing for you. If you can't log with Enginuity or Ecuexplorer with the tactrix cable, you won't be able to log with Ecuedit either. You did not answer the questions I asked. What OS are you running the logger in? What COM port do you have it set to in the logger (in Enginuity, there's a drop down box in the upper left hand corner - did you try each one?).

Dude, slow down and read what these guys are telling you and answer their questions.Good luck if you go the EcuEdit route. It's more complicated than using Ecuflash or Enginuity and there is not alot of support for it.You need to be halfway decent with computers to play with it.

Sorry for not answering TeaCup, I am using XP, and I have tried everything that has been mentioned. I am able to pull the logging up but for some reason it will not save. I have done the defrost button and still no luck. I even had a friend do it that has tuned many cars before with opensource and enginuity and he can't save the logs either. I have deleted everything and downloaded it into the laptop and still nothing. Please help. Thank you.

Did you read the FAQ that I linked to? Despite the "expert" help, this sounds exactly like user error which can be fixed by reading the following questions from the FAQ (read the underlined items):

Q: Can you give me a step-by-step on how to log with Enginuity?
1. Turn on your laptop.
2. Connect the USB end of your tactrix cable to the laptop and the other end of the cable to the OBD-II port on your car (underneath the steering wheel).
3. Start Enginuity. Select Logger -> Launch Logger from the top menu.
4. In the logger's Settings menu, make sure "Control File Logging with Defogger Switch" is selected.
5. Turn the ignition key to on or start the vehicle.
6. Choose the correct COM port for your tactrix cable from the drop down box in the upper left hand corner of the logger.
7. Select the parameters you wish to log in the left pane (the greater the number of parameters selected, the greater the sampling interval will be).
8. When you wish to log to a file, turn on the defogger. When you wish to end writing to that file, turn off the defogger. Each on/off sequence of the defogger will generate a separate file.

Q: Where are my log files saved?
In the logger, go to Settings->Log File Output Location to view or change the directory where the log files are saved.
