Post Question about Vehicle class in SCCA Solo II

Okay, so I raced at orange county a week or two ago with my Impreza 2000 2.5RS. The only modification I have is a tower strut bar. At orange county they classed me as G-Stock (with the tower bar).

This weekend at palisades they classed me a CSP, C- Street Prepared. Knowing the times the CSP vehicles were pulling at Orange County I immediately removed my tower bar and raced G-Stock.

What dumbfounds me is that I add a tower bar and I'm immediately classed in a set of vehicles that consistantly (even on their WORST) times, run 3-4 seconds faster than I can (we're talking some very fast and tight machines). So is this accurate? I get classed as CSP with a tower bar only? I'm not complaining, just a bit confused as the other CSP vehicles I would generally consider seriously outclassing me.

You should be in STS. If you wanted to run in a SP class, it would be DSP & not CSP. The brace bumps you out of stock, so no GS for you!

DSP huh? The race official plopped me in CSP. I thought I was a bit outclassed there but didn't say anything, just removed the tower bar and stayed G-Stock. When I got home i checked the SCCA website and certainly didn't think I could compete in the CSP class even with some heavy mods. However, a lot of the D class cars didn't seem to be up to snuff with a Subaru Impreza either. Looks like STS is the place I should head. Seems to be a nice compromise between the seriously competitive vehicles and the weekend warrior car folks who might have a few items in their cars but no real clue (like me!) Thanks for the tip.
