Doing quite a bit of research i decided to got with Mobil 1 5w30 ESP. I am Looking for some insight from the wealth of knowledge here, i planned on first oil change at 3k, ordered oil (Mobil 1 5w30 ESP) and OEM oil filter. Just got oil and its M1 0w30 ESP. Any disadvantage to running this or should i return for spec'd 5w30? There is ALOT of contradicting info out on these forums, hope someone can provided some insight.

We literally have a two thousand post thread on motor oil for the Fa20. Are you willfully ignorant, or do you just want to be spoon fed? Did you get participation trophies as a child?

Every question that could possibly spring to your young mind is covered either in that thread, or in the multitude of other oil threads on this forum. There is no question on viscosity, or HTHS or flow rates or TBN or anything else that hasn't been covered ad nauseum.

I beg of you, fellow NASIOCers: let my post on this thread be the last. Let him writhe about in dead silence, as this thread slowly sinks to the bottom of the abyss. We must force people to survive. We mustn't give this man fish, nay, we must teach him to fish.

As said in Ephesians 4:28,

Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need.

We must force this generation to work. To search. To read. Go forth my son, and learn.

Peace be unto you.

I have gone forth and learned to fish, and like when i was child, I used HOTDOG's to fish with. Honestly it was just a simple question and I have gone through most of the oil threads but at 2000+ posts and everyone and their grandmom's opinion about what is best, its a bit overwhelming. I have used the search function on various lubricants and whatnot and found only pics of your mom. What i find interesting is instead of just answering it or ignoring it you choose a failed attempt at being witty with your references and a response that did nothing but waste your time and the time of everyone else reading this. How long did it take you to google the appropriate passage? I dont take offense in the end and will exercise my ability as a member to post whatever blasphemy i so choose, so good day to you sir.

Myredwrx my hats off to you for not being a Total 8==D, thanks for the link.

He linked you to a thread on the front page. Literally directly under this, and clearly labeled as an oil discussion.

It's clearly not a simple answer, as every forum for every car has a multi page oil thread. Every car. From corvettes to vipers to kias to Hondas.

As for the googling of the quote, about ten seconds. I did it while pooping.

I had read the majority of the thread he linked. I understand its not a simple answer to my question, was hoping that someone with more knowledge on the subject of oil would be able to tell me if running 0w30 vs 5w30 would matter.I realize they are same weights. The HTHS are almost identical. I am new to subie's from EVO world and was worried about it from a warranty stand point, mitsu will void warranty claims if you busted ass in your ride.

I guess i just answered my own question if i am worried about the warranty then it should be 5w30 as the only other grades mentioned in user manual is 5w40 for replenishment.

0w30 vs 5w30 weight doesn't really matter unless you are in extreme conditions. The issue is that just because you are using the same brand and type of oil with different weights doesn't mean they are actually the same oils inside the bottle at all.

And why did you post the same exact question which was answered in the Oil FAQ thread?
