Default New Exhaust Ideas for me? need feed back please

Hey guys, I am kind of looking for a new exhaust, not sure when I'm going to get around to buying one but I'm kind of looking for an exhaust in case I find a good deal on a used one. But I used to own an 03 wrx where I put a BPM Twister MKII on it, for me I loved the sound but was a little to loud for the cops around the beach area. So I was wondering what exhaust yall might recommend for me that isn't loud enough to get pulled but has a really good performance gain, I drive a 07 STi now. I'm looking for turbo back exhausts. Wanted something that sounds like the BPM Twister actually just not so loud, but will appreciate any feed back.

Just a cat/axleback?

MadDad makes some really really nice exhausts that look very OEMish and aren't too loud. The classics are the TXS Magnaflow, Prodrive and Scoobysport (H&S).

You aren't going to get a "really good performance gain" out of a catback tho, nothing you'll notice on an STi.

TurboXS has some beautiful exhausts and are local to MAIC. I'm sure you could find one of the local guys/gals that has one. I'd suggest you go to a meet and check out other people's cars. You ought to be able to find a couple that you really like. Then, either order from a vendor or troll the classifieds.

You could go with a TXS stealth back system and then choose your axle back.

Another option would be to get a nice catback, say the Borla Hush or the Bosal (sp?) twin tip. Also the Maddad is a good option so I'm told for not being too loud as well.

After you get the catback, just buy a downpipe after that, such as the Invidia. I helped another member install one on his 06 wagon and really was a beautiful piece. It's a decent price, but it's not catted however so you'll need some sort of EM (accessport / Utec / Open Source) to get rid of the check engine light. If you want a catted downpipe, those usually run quite a nice price and I believe Cobb has a pretty popular one.

So, my .02 would be either go with the TXS stealthback / axleback combo or get a nice catback and pair it with a nice downpipe such as Invidia or Cobb.

I have the full Cobb TBE with Cats. No clue if it is loud versus your previous pipes, but I loved the fitment. The Cobb does use the 2.5 "stock" doughnut gasket to mate to the DP to the CBE. some complain about that, but I liked it - I did the DP first and mated to the Stock CBE. 9 months later I put the rest of it on.

Make sure you get a catted turboback and don't install it without engine management.

i just put a borla hush on the car and really like the sound. its very quiet compared to the coffee cans i've heard and looks bone stock. it drones on my wagon at highway speeds but that's nothing some dynamat won't fix. i'm planning on putting a helix catted downpipe on next.
