Default 02 bugeye to 06-07 front end install plus pics

hey guys i just wanted to post this up because i know a lot of people may be unsure about converting their front end to a newer year and i had a confusing time finding out everything needed to do it, i hope this will help.

in this case i am converting my 02 sedan to the 06-07 front end. i will list everything you need to do it and the price i paid and where i got the parts from. there are a few ways to obtain the parts you need, but i chose to get the majority of my parts used, since i will be repainting them anyway i wasnt worried about small blemishes/scratches/chips. some parts i bought new from www.1stsubaruparts.com . i havent begun to weld the new support on yet because i am still waiting on my hood and one fender in the mail. i am almost positive that i have everthing necessary for the conversion, but wont be sure until it is all ready to go on.

the following was purchased from 1stsubaruparts.com
06-07 upper radiator support upper tie bar. just the top piece ($46.76)
06-07 Hood Striker ($16.21)
06-07 front right headlight bracket ($27.31)
06-07 front left headlight bracket ($27.31)
06-07 rear headlight bracket x2 ($6.94) for both

the following was purchased from the nasioc.com classifieds
headlights (i got wrx ones) ($462)
Passenger front fender ($100)
Seibon OEM style carbon hood ($562)
Front grill ($150) (prob paid way too much for this)
foglight covers ($50)
H7 plugs for low beams and 9005 plugs for highs (i paid $10 at junkyard depends where you get them, some vendors make conversion harnesses that are plug and play, i chose to just solder mine to save money)

ebay
front bumper ($190 shipped)

bought new from local dealership
driver front fender ($175 with my work discount, i think its around $225 though)

Optional things i bought
8k hids ($145)
sti projectors ($100)

you may be able to find a oem hood for those of you who do not like carbon fiber, but it was the same price to buy the seibon as it was to get the stock one shipped. i realized i hate the scoop that comes on the hood so it will be for sale and an oem sti one will replace it)

also if you look on chargespeed's website, they have the parts needed to do the conversion, but since i could they didnt respond to my emails, i chose to get the parts online. they have helpful lists of what you need on the chargespeed site along with part numbers too.

the pics i posted are of whats here, and whatever isnt is in the mail

bumper

passenger fender (small dent will be fixed)

headlights

one of the sti projectors

misc parts, rad support, headlight brackets, bumper vents, hood striker and bolt, etc

and just sitting on the car for kicks

i will update the thread when its done and then when its painted. also i sold my complete bugeye front for $800 which definitely helped to pay for all this.
thanks guys

yes i plan to re-use the fender liners. so far i have only set the fender in place, but the fender liners seemed to fit perfect, and i think they are the same for 02-07 with little to no difference.

turbotomas- i wish my car was black, would have made things easy lol. seems like we paid almost the same, but you got a whole interior and rear end conversion along with it.... lucked out i guess

ya i was lucky with getting the parts black.. there the only parts i could find. i wanted to go with some nice suade interior but i got the limited for a killer deal. and i had a pair of 05 tails left from a project which lead me to the rear bumper and wide body kit.

Dosent, say or look like you replaced the front aprons? What about the two locations the fenders bolt to in that area?

yea i was talking with him. he gave me a good price, $65, to make a conversion harness, but i juat made my own because it was actually pretty easy. three wires from my bugeye wiring, one was the high, one was the low, and the other the ground. so just split them, and ground each one

Default update: Almost done

its getting there!!

its not riveted/welded on yet but once i have time, hopefully this weekend, it will be on the road.

hacked up the old support, i wanted to remove it nicely but decided it would take too long haha. i just used sheet metal snips, a drill bit for the spot welds, and some patience.

new support sitting in place, the hood latch bolts help a lot as far as lining things up. the only reason its not fully mounted is because i need to wait for a friend to hold the fender and support in place before i make it permanent. i painted it with some ford gray color from autozone, came out pretty close but i might re-do it with something else cause its a little darker than the bay. i plan to rivet and bolt it on for now since the welder is not available and then weld it when i strip the car for paint.
