Default STi in Hurst/DFW - anyone seen it or know about it?

http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...0&aff=national

I am coming up from Austin to see that car tomorrow night. The dealer said it has a larger turbo, front mount IC and makes 17-18psi boost. Has anyone looked at it? Or know who it belonged to? Any chance I can pay someone gas/dinner to meet me there tomorrow evening to inspect the car? Please let me know ASAP! Thanks

Does it look like an aftermarket exhaust and boost gauge?

He blacked out the headlights also.

Check the bolts in the engine and look if they have been taken off several times in the typical places that people add parts too if you wanna see if he did any other stuff and put it back to stock.

I was thinking Carl's too, but the turbo was stock on his. I'll check it out tomorrow and see if it really is or if the dealer is incorrect.

I'm leaving Austin at 2pm, so I'd plan to be at the dealership by 5:30pm. I'd love to come to the Arlington meet afterwards. I'm new to Subaru's but not turbo cars. I'd just really, really appreciate someone who knows them well taking a look before I drop the $$. Thanks so much.

I know them fairly well. My office is right by the dealership and I generally leave about 5:30, so this will work out well. If it's Carl's car then I assure you that for the first part of it's life it was well taken care of. I don't know who bought it from him, but they certainly didn't have it for long.

My loan is through Capitol One, so unless you are an authorized dealer that won't work

The dealer said it's a one owner, did he maybe trade it in, and it got moved around through auction?

That makes me a bit curious then why someone would trade in a car like that unless it had problems and they wanted out ASAP. I hope that's not the case.

I know exactly who's car this is. It's carls car.... His name on the boards here was "auntvinceremori" or somethin like that.

It does NOT have an upgraded turbo, however, it does have a FMIC (ebay version) that is heatwrapped. The FMIC has "STI" spraypainted on the front. You can kinda see it from the side/front shot. Has full TBE, bigger injectors (we were pretty sure it was the deucthwork inj.... )

If I were you, I would NOT get this car. It was only hassle for carl, and I was always over at his house and he kept getting more and more angry (i think he might have had an exhaust leak, but can't remember)

When the car was protuned by chris at alamo... the car put down 310 whp and 340 tq. It still has some bugs though. And frustrated him to No-End.

I would highly advise you stay away from the car.. I was frustrated just going over to his house, and it wasn't even my car.

Not to ruin your plans.. but I think you're going to be highly dissapointed in the car. It has bugs, and I don't think it's worth the gas to drive up here. But... if you do decide anyways... best of luck to ya

exhaust leak... or that's what HE told me.

the injectors were sorta messed up.

He messed with that car for a LONG time, but everything just kept on getting worse.

I'll have to admit though... we did his headlights AND mine at his house. those turned out damn well>

Thanks for the input TSF. I'm not wanting to buy someone elses problems that they dumped off on a dealership. That's a big concern about buying a modified car. However, I'm also coming up to look at these while I am there as well:

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...e=&cardist=179

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...e=&cardist=176

Input on either of those?

OP IMO I think the way you might want to go if you want this car is, Get it, Get new ex gaskets, maybe trade someone your injectors for stockers plus monies, plus the same for the IC. Get it back to stock and see if you have any problems then go from there.
