Default looked around.. any GB on Audio Integrations Enclosures? NASIOC discount?

year end (2007) bonus arrives this week... exhaust & AI enclosure are on the top of the list.

Anyone know do they offer a promo or NASIOC discount or free shipping?

I don't need a Diamond woofer (roll eyes)... just a great enclosure...

thanks!

Rob

I didn't particularly care for any of the Diamond audio stuff I heard. I listened to both the subs and the components, and disliked both.

have u ever heard the "macdaddy" sub?

you havent had anyone really impress you with them. i put my 12" macs in a trans line box (if i remember it was around 42" long port each) hit 148 with a 500w amp. not to mention id put them up against most sq enclosures.
the tight bass can handle and double bass or punk songs at any point. im not trying to be rude, its just they have potential if you work with them

My only complaint with diamond is the entry level components. The tweeters are WAY too bright and have a rather metallic sound....But that could be said for any entry level I guess.

So to answer your question, no there really isn't a GB on the enclosures. They've found in the past that they get very little response from people in GB's for the enclosures as they expect a discount and free shipping on an oversized item (which is around $50 coast to coast).

They were offering a special if you bought an under deck rack that you could any enclosure at 10% off, so a decent savings.

Contact the guys though...if you grab some other stuff they might be able to work a deal with you, but I wouldn't expect it as their profit margin on those enclosures is very light (I know exactly what they make on each of their units so please trust me on this).

the D-series subs are FAR from a Mac-Daddy.. that's like comparing the Alpine E-series to my SWX-1242... or a Corolla to a Viper... not an apples to apples comparo..

the D-series subs they offer as "loaded" are comparable to the JL w3's, MAYBE the W6's

I would hope ANY decent woofer in a Transmission Line enclosure would hit 148db with 500w... the gain alone on the transmission line @ the sweet-spot is what? 18db?

Anyway... thanks... I will be contacting them...

I agree with the above poster... just bite the bullet and order what you want.. the quality is above what you would expect and they package everything incredibly awesome.

I wanted to get in on the undertrunk rack group buy but due to the size of my amp I needed to buy the fiberglass amp tub in addition to the rear sub enclosure. I was a little bummed by the prices as well but once the products came I knew I got a smokin deal and it was way better than anything I could have made or bought anywhere else.

whoever packs items at that place is a shipping god! It was the best packaging on fragile items I have ever purchased in my life.

BTW -- Installation Instructions are awesome as well.

I'm on the verge of getting the Audio Integrations enclosure for my '05 WRX wagon, but am hesitating on the price - well over $350 with shipping. I wrote to AI about a group buy and did not get a response. Free shipping would do it for me.

Does anyone know if there's a commercially available sub enclosure for the spare tire well? I've seen a couple of cool DIY posts, but I have not seen a product.

the quality from AI will surpass ANYTHING else you can purchase that is a direct fit... the product is amazing and does weigh alot.. sub enclosure comes with batting, speaker wires, hardware and instructions.

Tub enclosure also comes with instructions - all hardware and is packaged like pristine china to make sure none of the glossy finish is chipped at all.

from what I remember the shipping was not as inflated as you would think... my 2 packages were heavy and almost oversized. My 2 items came to around 600 after shipping and I didnt whine about it once they arrived.

I purchased the fiberglass amp rack from them and whole-heartedly agree that the AI products are well worth the price. It would cost me much more (in both money and time) to make something of comparable quality. I would not hesitate to buy from them again at their listed prices.

Hey guys - just came across this thread, sorry for not chiming in earlier. Currently we do not have a Group Buy offer or any other special promo going for the enclosures. Like Daishi00 mentioned earlier we tried one GB before without a lot of interest so we kinda gave up on the idea.

We just had one on our Hide Away Rack and we're in the process of re-working our other fiberglass tub amplifier rack - we were going to offer them up in a GB as well once the re-work was done.

We're all for trying again though as there seems to be some interest, just keep in mind though that all of our products are made by hand here in the states - we do not get any discounts on quanities ordered from our fiberglass contractors so the cost never goes down on our part and there is still a lot of time and materials that go into each of the enclosures / amp racks.

Let me see what we can come up with - we may be able to start something but I'll have to contact our fiberglass shop and get an update on the re-work of the fiberglass rack.

I'm terribly sorry if you wrote and never got a response back from us, we try extremely hard to answer every pm, email, phone message and calls we get whether we can help or not. With only three of us here, two full time we're often running a million different directions between our manufactured products, custom installs, phone calls, emails, pm's on multiple forums, and the every day doings of running a business we sometimes miss a pm or email here and there.

If in the future you ever need anything please don't be afraid to try again, if we don't answer the phone leave a message and we'll always get back to ya.

Thanks for the response, AI. Please let us know if you come up with any ideas on the enclosures.

If other people would be interested in a group buy on the AI sub enclosure for the wagon, please post to let AI know. No guarantees, but maybe if enough people were interested....

So this is the line that always comes up and I always love to destroy (don't take it personally ceastman, I'm going to put things in perspective).

I decided I wanted to do a sub enclosure myself out of fiberglass and not spend the money on an AI enclosure figuring I could get comparable results for less money...big mistake.

If you shop around and buy QUALITY materials and PROPER safety gear you are looking at a minimum of $250 for everything shipped (if you already have some stuff obviously prices are lower, but I'm talking first time work here). It took roughly 30 hours to glass everything, bodyfill everything, sand and in my case paint the enclosure (just wrapping it should cut out 4 hours or so). So, even at minimum wage costs it ran me roughly $500 to make my enclosure (taking into account my time, which is worth well over minimum wage). I got tired of the ugly ass thing so I contacted AI and ordered up a unit and all I can say is it is SO NICE. A comparable unit in a shop custom made would run you $600 or more...just ask hector here on the forums who works in the business as well.

CN - you can't build an enclosure cheaper taking into account time so just get the AI rack and call it a day.

I have no issue with the price... just never hurts to ask. Yes I agree the $38 in shipping is a small bite in the arse, but then again, the JL Audio Stealth box for my F150 was $80... so go figure.

I am curious about the tub rework? what is getting reworked? it looks great... it will barely accomodate my MRD-F752 Surfboard 5-channel Alpine amp from Heck... lol...

I was planning on the sub first.. the amp tub for my B-day in march... are there any left or are all on hold until rework?

Please advise?

Rob

ps: there are NO other properly done enclosures for the Subbie I have found. None for the spare tire area ever came to life, that I have encountered. The only other finished box has been kind of "side lined" by the other guy & he will make them as needed, but the quality & OE-fit doesn't compare... even if it is 1/2 the money... its half the cosmetic job.

No offense taken. I have no intention of trying to build it myself cheaper, just having trouble pulling the trigger after rims, amp, head unit, and (yesterday) boston acoustics in the doors. Gonna have to do it, I guess, to get rid of the big cab I'm hauling around.

The tub re-work is nothing major, really just to speed things up on our end. Currently we make all the MDF pieces in house at our shop, gets to be pretty time consuming even when using templates like we do. We're having a shop program our current MDF parts into their CNC so we can save time there, we're also having our fiberglass shop build a spendy trim jig so the actual fiberglass tub will already be trimmed when we pick em up. Trimming those things by hand and then with the router is teh suck!

This is actually bringing the cost of the parts up, but will save time on our end. Cosmetically you won't notice any difference in the tubs all said and done though.

We were hoping once this was done to offer them up in a GB as well to help recoup some of the tooling costs involved.

We've been slackin' there - a lot more people in the Group Buy ended up ordering it than previously thought so we've been playing catch up in their production - just haven't had the time to get the website updated with current pics and info on em.

If you've ordered a Hide Away Rack or are planning on it and want the carpeted cover send us a pm, we'll get it added to your order for a discount package price.
