Default Poor Poor Subie...Now about 3 inches shorter

I hate having the first photos of my Subie are ones showing my accident today. Sitting at a stop light, a women in a Mercedes E500 plows into the back of me going about 25mph. Looks like I am headed to the body shop. How does it work when your aftermarket exhaust is damaged?

Here is what the rest of her looks like.

Here is the damage to her car.

sorry to hear that bro i've been there. Make sure everything is checked pick the best shop in your area, it was her fault anyways and she has to make everything as it was even after market stuff.....my friend had a bomex body kit on his cavalier and when a old lady hit him they added 600 bucs for a aftermarket rear bumper, his car ended up being totaled so it was overall price of the car, and he took the front bumper and side skirts, and they gave him 600 for the rear....not bad i guess.

Wow the mercedes looks jacked up.

I think it depends on fault/coverage.
If you hit someone and it's your fault, your insurance will be picky about your stuff, but not about the other persons. At least that's what i have seen.

a long time ago when i had my civic, i had a lip kit on it. one day, driving through a parking lot in lewisville, i hit a HUGE pothole and ripped the lip off the front bumper. i picked it up and stuck it in the back of the car...

now the next week, i was back in lubbock for school, and i got into a wreck. (not my fault) when they did the estimate, they pulled the front lip out from the trunk and included it in the estimate to replace the lip....so they replaced the lip that i messed up because they thought it was part of the wreck and the other driver had to pay for it. they also had to replace one of my tokico shocks, which the other driver also had to pay for.

the other woman's insurance will cover the exhaust repair/replacement. regardless of what's in her policy about aftermarket coverage, you didn't sign that policy, she did. that trunk floor looks pretty bad. i'm gonna say the repairs will be about $3400 PLUS the cost of the exhaust & diffuser.
replace rear bumper, absorber, rebar
replace trunk lid
replace rear body panel
set up & pull rear floor
repair floor about 8 hours (you dont want 'em cutting the floor out unless it's absolutely necessary)
blend paint into lt & rt qtr panels
r&i lt & tr tail lamps
replace exhaust
replace rear diffuser
.
..
...
....
that mercedes on the otherhand will be about 6-7k to fix and in the shop a lot longer than your car just waiting on parts.

What sucks is that it took me forever to source a wingless trunk and I had it for about 4 months and now I get a new one. I am going to see if they will get me an sti rear bumper with the fender flares instead, its the same price. I think I am alright health wise but will see, I see my doctor tomorrow. I heard alot of people talk about Details Ltd. (body Shop) in Addison; anyone heard experience with them?

That sucks balls Chris. I am still fighting with USAA to replace my exhaust. Asshats are stalling. I have had a lawyer send a letter to them and all.

Good luck. There is prolly more damage not visible to the trunk floor and behind the bumper cover-was with mine.

dont even ask the insurance company about changes to the parts that are being replaced. they're just going to figure comparable replacement parts regardless. they'll probably write the estimate for a reconditioned bumper cover. tell the estimator at the shop you choose to take it to that you want the STi bumper in place of the wrx bumper and slip him a twenty for making those recond parts not available. the guy in the shop is your friend, treat him well and he'll take care of you.

honestly, as jacked up as your car looks, you'd be better off having the shop pre-order all of the parts they think they'll need and drop the car off once the parts are in. just remove the diffuser since it's hangin there

Take a closer look at your pass side tail light... it looks toast on the inside of the housing, unless thats a really odd reflection.
